Cao Bang proposes building an airport.

According to the province's proposal, Cao Bang only has road transport; other modes of transport are underdeveloped due to unfavorable natural conditions or lack of investment. Investing in the construction of an airport is a breakthrough in transportation infrastructure and is of significant importance for the socio-economic development and maintaining border security of the province.

According to the provincial transportation development plan, Cao Bang airport is located 13 km southeast of the city. This is a domestic airport shared with the military, serving travel, tourism, and ensuring national defense and security on the northern border.

Previously, in 2009, the Government approved the Aviation Transport Development Plan for the period up to 2020, and Cao Bang airport was included in the construction list. However, in 2018, the Aviation Transport Development Plan for the period up to 2020 and orientation to 2030 again did not include Cao Bang airport in the investment list.

The government is assigning the Ministry of Transport to organize the development of the master plan for the airport and airfield system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Therefore, Cao Bang proposes adding the Cao Bang airport project to this plan so that the province has a basis to continue implementing investment and construction procedures for the airport in the next phase.
