According to the province's proposal, Cao Bang only has road transport, other types of transport have not developed due to natural conditions not allowing or not being invested. Investing in building an airport is a breakthrough in transport infrastructure and has important significance for socio-economic development, maintaining order and security at the province's border.
In the provincial transport development plan, Cao Bang airport is located 13 km southeast of the city. This is a domestic airport shared with the military, serving travel, tourism, and ensuring national security and defense of the northern border.
Besides road transport, other types of transport have not yet developed due to natural conditions not allowing or lack of investment.
Previously, in 2009, the Government approved the Plan for the development of aviation transport until 2020, and Cao Bang airport was included in the construction list. By 2018, the Plan for the development of aviation transport until 2020 and orientation to 2030 did not have an investment list for Cao Bang airport.
The Government is assigning the Ministry of Transport to organize the preparation of the Master Plan for the development of the airport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Therefore, Cao Bang proposed to add the Cao Bang airport project to this plan so that the province has a basis to continue implementing investment procedures for airport construction in the next phase.
