On May 21, 2019, in the qualifying round, 20 teams from 7 cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hue and Ba Ria - Vung Tau competed in the "Taste of Australia" cooking competition. The qualifying rounds took place in 4 major cities including Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The final round took place on May 24th in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of four teams from Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Da Lat. After overcoming fierce competition from three other teams, contestants Nguyen Manh Dung and Nguyen Duc Phuong from Citysmart Hotel Management Hanoi showcased their talent and creativity to win. These talented chefs will receive two full scholarships, including living expenses, worth A$76,600 (over VND 1.2 billion) at the Blue Mountains International Hotel School in New South Wales, Australia.


This year, the judging panel and coaches for the final round of the competition include: the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, the Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, MasterChef winner Ngo Thanh Hoa, and the Head of Recruitment in Asia, Blue Mountains School of Hospitality Management.

Over the past year, the Australian government has organized a series of events within the framework of Taste of Australia 2019. This is also the fourth time the Australian government has held the unique Taste of Australia 2019 cooking competition, bringing together culinary students from all over Vietnam to compete in preparing dishes using Australian products for the chance to win a full scholarship for one year of study in Australia. Australia boasts some of the best training facilities in the world for tourism and hospitality. This competition truly delivered creative and outstanding dishes and a very enjoyable experience.
