2 "emotionally connected" photography exhibitions in Hanoi

The exhibition “Format” offers a new perspective on photographic practice with multi-dimensional dialogues, while the exhibition “Turns: Views from Europe” emphasizes the connection between culture and social concerns.

From May 12 to June 12, 2021, Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) in collaboration with the French Institute Hanoi - L'Espace organizes two special photography exhibitions titled "Format" and "Turns: Perspectives from Europe".

The exhibitions bring together the most impressive photographic works, connecting the emotional experiences between the authors and the photography-loving community as well as the general audience.

Exhibition “Format”

The eight artists participating in the exhibition, including Nguyen Phuong, Joseph Gobin, Duy Phuong, Yen Duong, Tran Le Quynh Anh, Prune Phi, Duy Tuan and Alexandre Dupeyron, have chosen to respond to human disconnection in their own ways.

They turn the photographic process into a methodology for finding connection. Some artists experiment with manual photographic processes to emphasize their connection to nature and their surroundings.

Other artists use the expansive formats of photography to explore the bonds between family and nation, while at the same time, through keen observation and self-questioning, subtly highlighting social paradoxes.

Exhibition "The Turns: Perspectives from Europe"

The exhibition features the works of eight photographers from eight European countries nominated by the cultural departments of the countries in Vietnam. The group exhibition aims to bring multi-dimensional perspectives and perspectives of life, hoping to narrow the cultural gap and concerns.

Through projects carried out in Vietnam and many other locations, audiences are led to unexpected turns, to collide with many different lives or seemingly far-fetched ideas. The works therefore also create space for audiences to ponder and debate.

The exhibition is open to the public until June 12, 2021 at Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), B1-R3 Vincom Royal City, 72 Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi.

During the exhibition, VCCA has always strictly implemented epidemic prevention and control measures, including: measuring body temperature at the entrance of Vincom Royal City Shopping Center, social distancing and requiring customers to wear masks during the entire exhibition.
