Not long ago, the press and media reported extensively on France quarantining its citizens returning from the COVID-19 outbreak in China at a luxurious seaside resort in southern France. However, this story is no longer unique to France; in Vietnam, at least three luxury hotels/resorts have been used by the government as quarantine facilities in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
1. Hoi An Beach Resort – Quang Nam
On March 16th, Quang Nam province decided to use the 4-star Hoi An Beach Resort at 1 Cua Dai Street (Cua Dai Ward, Hoi An City) as a quarantine facility for international tourists to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ban, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoi An Tourism Joint Stock Company and manager of Hoi An Beach Resort, said that Hoi An Beach Resort was handed over on March 16th to receive tourists subject to quarantine according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
Hoi An Beach Resort is a high-end resort situated in a prime location with two open waterfronts, right on Cua Dai Beach, and backed by the Cam Thanh coconut forest. This luxurious 4-star resort features 121 rooms overlooking both the river and the sea, along with several upscale swimming pools and modern amenities.

Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, Le Tri Thanh, stated: "They came from afar to our country for tourism, and they simply wanted to enjoy a complete holiday during their stay. But the pandemic has changed all their plans, causing significant losses for these visitors." For this reason, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee believes that organizing quarantine in a separate location with high-standard services is a way to partially compensate for the losses suffered by foreign tourists.

2. Vanda Hotel - Da Nang
Previously, Da Nang also temporarily quarantined 40 foreigners with American, German, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese nationalities, and 8 Vietnamese citizens at the Vanda Hotel at 3 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District. It is known that the Vanda Hotel was initially the accommodation of two British tourists who were previously found to be infected with Covid-19.

VanDa Hotel Da Nang is a 4-star hotel with 19 floors and 114 luxurious rooms. The hotel boasts a unique architecture and sophisticated style, blending modern and classic elements. Using a high-end hotel like VanDa, located right in the city center, provides comfort for quarantined guests while also contributing to the effectiveness of COVID-19 containment efforts in Da Nang.

3. Sun & Sea Resort – Thua Thien Hue
On March 12th, Sun And Sea Resort (formerly Abalone Resort and Spa; belonging to EG Group) in Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province, also agreed to allow the province to select the hotel as a Covid-19 quarantine facility for 14 tourists.

Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue province, shared: “During the days when the Covid-19 pandemic was raging, dealing with the quarantine of tourists, especially foreign tourists who had close contact with infected or suspected infected people, was an extremely complex and sensitive issue. However, Mr. Trinh Quang, the owner of Sun And Sea Resort, was one of the very few people who immediately accepted the provincial leaders' request over the phone without hesitation.”

Sun & Sea Resort is built on the waters of Tam Giang Lagoon, just a 15-minute drive from Hue city center and a short walk to Thuan An Beach. Sun & Sea Resort is one of Vietnam's leading resorts, offering a peaceful atmosphere reminiscent of a Vietnamese countryside village and surrounded by lush greenery. The resort comprises 76 rooms with a harmonious blend of modern architecture and traditional Vietnamese design.

The centralized quarantine area is located in Zone D of the resort, with 20 rooms situated in an isolated location, separated from residential areas and offering a spacious environment suitable for epidemic prevention and control. Furthermore, it has all the necessary facilities and supplies…
