With its ancient, romantic, and poetic beauty, and the canals that flow around and envelop the city, Annecy is commonly known to Europeans as the Venice of France.

Located 300 km southeast of Paris, the small, beautiful town of Annecy sits beside a lake nestled in the Alps, its year-round crystal-clear waters giving visitors the feeling of being transported to a fairytale land.

Annecy is surrounded on one side by mountains and on the other by a lake with canals flowing through it.

Lake Annecy is famous for its pristine waters, formed 18,000 years ago from melting glaciers. It's a large lake, ranging in width from 800m to 3.2km, covering an area of 27km², and with an average depth of 41m. Not only is it a favorite destination for tourists offering boat tours, but Annecy is also a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts.

Visitors are delighted to explore the old streets along the canal with their charming little cafes adorned with flowers and beautiful wooden bridges that look like something out of a fairy tale, especially the romantic Pont des Amours, also known as the Bridge of Love. Life here seems untouched by time, retaining the characteristic style of old French countryside, with wooden houses and lovely little gardens overflowing with vibrant flowers.

At night, the entire city and Lake Annecy are bathed in sparkling lights, like a fairytale garden.

An indispensable feature of this city is its system of canals and bridges. In Annecy, you'll find many small canals, charming bridges, and eateries lining the banks. In the town center, a small trail leads up to an ancient castle perched on a hill, like something out of a fairy tale. The castle isn't particularly magnificent, but it's fascinating because the belongings of its inhabitants from bygone eras are still preserved intact.

On both sides of the road were walls covered with climbing roses; their petals were soft and came in a variety of colors.

During holidays like Christmas, the town bustles with visitors from all over, who come to enjoy concerts and celebrate Christmas in its charming old-world setting. The Annecy Carnival is also a lively celebration. Every year in March, the city's residents pour into the streets to dance and celebrate to music, dressed in colorful costumes and funny masks.

Nothing is more refreshing than a walk or bike ride around the lake, breathing in the fresh air, admiring the turquoise water, and letting your mind wander with the clouds and the water.

When you visit Annecy in the fall, the scenery is incredibly romantic; nowhere else offers such a perfect autumn view as Annecy.
