Three tourist accommodation establishments in Hon Son, Kien Giang were fined and temporarily closed.

The People's Committee of Kien Giang province has just decided to administratively fine three tourism businesses in Lai Son commune (Kien Hai district) a total of VND75 million (VND25 million each), suspending operations for two months for not ensuring tourism business conditions.

On November 1, the Kien Giang Department of Tourism announced that the People's Committee of Kien Giang province had issued three decisions to administratively sanction three tourism businesses in Hon Son, including: Co Co Bay (represented by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan), Fly Up (represented by Ms. Vu Thi Diem Thuy) and the tourism business of Mr. Vo Duc Thang (both in Lai Son commune) with a total fine of 75 million VND (each facility was fined 25 million VND).

The above three establishments were all suspended for two months for failing to ensure the conditions for tourism service business at Point b, Clause 1, Article 49 of the Law on Tourism.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai - Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism - said that every year, the Kien Giang Department of Tourism Inspectorate coordinates with departments, branches and Kien Giang Provincial Police to organize three inspections and rectify unqualified accommodation establishments operating tourism businesses in Hon Son, Nam Du (Kien Hai district).

The unit also inspected travel agencies and organized legal propaganda to help islanders better understand how to conduct tourism business in accordance with regulations.

Lai Son Commune is also known as Hon Son. This island still retains the wild beauty of mountains and forests, so many tourists come to experience, visit and enjoy services such as: diving to catch sea urchins, snails, fish and can check-in Ma Thien Lanh mountain (a mountain with an altitude of more than 400 m above sea level).

Hon Son currently has about 1,500 accommodation rooms and many tourist businesses serving guests. Each year, this island can welcome about 200,000 visitors.
