According to an official announcement from the Vietnam Military History Museum, located in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, a significant change in its visitor policy will officially take effect from Saturday, April 12, 2025. After a period of free entry, allowing a large number of people and tourists to learn about and explore the glorious history of the nation through valuable military artifacts, the museum will begin charging an entrance fee for visitors.
Specifically, starting from April 12, 2025, each visitor to the Vietnam Military History Museum will need to purchase an entrance ticket at the listed price of 40,000 VND per person. This fee is applied to ensure funding for the maintenance, preservation, and further development of exhibitions, research, and historical education activities at the museum, continuing to provide meaningful and profound experiences for visitors.
The Vietnam Military History Museum (under the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army) will begin charging an entrance fee starting April 12th.
However, the Vietnam Military History Museum also expresses its deep gratitude to policy beneficiaries and younger generations by clearly defining cases where admission is free. Accordingly, the following individuals will receive completely free admission: children under 16 years old, senior citizens aged 80 and above, war invalids, those who have contributed to the revolution, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and Labor Heroes. This is a humane policy, demonstrating concern and creating favorable conditions for special groups to access the historical and cultural values of the nation.
In addition, the museum also applies a 50% discount on entrance fees for certain specific groups. Those eligible for this discount include: severely disabled individuals as defined in Clause 2, Article 11 of Government Decree 28; elderly Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and above (upon presentation of an elderly card or other valid document); and students aged 16 and above with cards issued by national educational institutions. This discount policy aims to encourage disabled individuals, the elderly, and the younger generation to continue learning about and exploring the glorious military history of the country.
People under 16 years old, people 80 years and older, war invalids, people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and Labor Heroes will be granted free admission to the museum.
The Vietnam Military History Museum, with its modern facilities and vast scale of 38.66 hectares, is strategically located next to Thang Long Boulevard, in the Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards of Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi. The museum officially opened to visitors on November 1, 2024, and has maintained a free admission policy to date, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to visit and learn about its history.
The Vietnam Military History Museum is not simply a museum showcasing the history of war, but also creates a shared space for visitors to interact and experience the heroic struggle for national independence of the Vietnam People's Army.
Currently, the Vietnam Military History Museum houses and displays an extremely valuable collection of over 150,000 artifacts. Among them, four artifacts have been recognized as National Treasures, carrying within them special historical stories and immense cultural value: two legendary MIG-21 aircraft (with serial numbers 4324 and 5121), the T54B tank with serial number 843 that has gone down in history, and the map of the "Determined to Fight" in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. These artifacts are vivid evidence of the glorious victories and indomitable fighting spirit of our army and people in the resistance wars to defend the Fatherland.
To facilitate visitors, the Vietnam Military History Museum has specific opening hours: from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM in the morning and from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM in the afternoon daily. The implementation of an entrance fee policy is expected to contribute to improving service quality, preserving and promoting the value of historical artifacts, and providing increasingly better visiting experiences for locals and tourists at the Vietnam Military History Museum.
