According to Gogobot, 2.5 million Gogobot users voted for Barcelona, ​​the capital of Catalonia on the Mediterranean coast, as their top destination for summer 2013. And among the many attractive entertainment options there, the Festa Major de Grazia festival, held annually in August, attracts over 1 million participants.

Lonely Planet, the world's largest publisher of travel books and guides, described the event as a hybrid between a giant exhibition and a large-scale outdoor rock concert. In addition, the three-day, three-night high-tech Sonar music festival (the 20th Sonar festival will take place on June 13, 14, and 15, 2013) and the Sala Montjuic outdoor film festival also contributed to the excitement of the influx of tourists from around the world.

The next three destinations are London, England; Rome, Italy; and Barcelona, ​​Spain. This list is based on the popularity of destinations, millions of visitor opinions and comments, and ratings from members of online travel communities across 412 destinations in 38 different travel markets worldwide.

And while Prague in the Czech Republic and Cape Town in South Africa jumped seven places in this top ranking, Siem Reap in Cambodia, on the other hand, dropped 14 places.

In addition, new destinations included in TripAdvisor's annual ranking are Venice, Italy; Bangkok, Thailand; Tokyo, Japan; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and St. Petersburg, Russia.

With millions accessing TripAdvisor, Europe remains a global travel paradise, with seven of the top 10 destinations in 2013. The remaining three positions were occupied by New York (second place), San Francisco (seventh place), and Sydney, Australia (tenth place).

Every month, TripAdvisor receives over 200 million visits and more than 100 million comments and reviews related to travel-related issues are posted on the TripAdvisor website.
