You can travel to Quang Ninh at any time of the year, but usually to experience the river and island destinations, going in the summer is the most suitable. How to travel?
The transportation infrastructure from Hanoi to Quang Ninh is very convenient, there are many means of transportation for you to choose from. In particular, with each means of transportation, you will have different experiences on the journey.
If you like to travel by motorbike, you can choose one of two routes: the nearest route follows Highway 5, turns towards Bac Ninh and then follows Highway 18; or follows the direction of Noi Bai airport through Bac Ninh and then turns to Highway 18A. Both routes have very clear signs. You can also look up Google Map to choose the route that suits you.
Every day, there are many buses to Quang Ninh departing from Giap Bat, My Dinh, Gia Lam bus stations…, ticket prices also vary depending on the type of bus. You can choose a bus, sleeper bus, or limousine depending on your conditions.
The train to Ha Long departs from Yen Vien station (Hanoi). However, this is a slow train, the train ride is quite long and the distance from the station to the city center is quite far, you should consider it further.
Although the distance from Hanoi to Quang Ninh is quite close, you can still choose to fly with seaplane service from Noi Bai airport to Tuan Chau, the journey takes 45 minutes.
Things to prepare
If you “go all over” Quang Ninh, you will have the opportunity to experience many outdoor activities such as swimming, mountain climbing, visiting caves, rowing, trekking, going to islands, going to pagodas… Therefore, you should prepare your things carefully and thoughtfully according to your trip plan.

Seafood dishes not to be missed
Ha Long squid cake is a famous dish in this region for generations, made from large, fresh squid, pounded by hand and fried until fragrant and crispy. Its flavor always makes many people remember. Squid cake here is also served with rice rolls, making the dish more interesting and unique.
Sea horseshoe crab is another dish in Ha Long that many tourists seek out to enjoy thanks to its unique flavor. Dishes made from horseshoe crab are very diverse such as grilled horseshoe crab, horseshoe crab patties, horseshoe crab soup, horseshoe crab salad, etc. Especially if you want to eat dishes made from horseshoe crab, you usually have to order a pair of horseshoe crabs (one male, one female).
Quang Ninh is also famous for dishes made from fresh jellyfish such as jellyfish salad, jellyfish noodles, jellyfish salad... with crispy, sweet taste and transparent color. Jellyfish season starts from January to March of the lunar calendar, which is also the time for tourists to enjoy jellyfish dishes with the most wonderful flavor.
