Traveling is inherently a time for rest and relaxation, but for many parents, traveling with children brings a lot of stress and pressure. So, how to make traveling with your baby more "breathable" and exciting? Let's listen to the valuable sharing from MC Diep Chi and journalist Lam Linh to get the answer for yourself.

On the afternoon of March 17, at the Travel Fest 2019 tourism promotion festival co-organized by Travellive magazine and Aeon Mall Long Bien, the audience listened to an interesting talk show called "Traveling with children". With the participation of two experienced mothers, MC Diep Chi and journalist Lam Linh, the talk show conveyed to the audience a lot of useful information on how to have a smooth and exciting trip with children.

In response to one of the most frequently asked questions on this topic, “When is my child ready to start traveling?”, both guests agreed: “When the parents are ready, it means the child is ready too.” As someone who has taken her child on a trip since he was 10 months old, journalist Lam Linh believes that traveling together like this will satisfy the needs of both mother and child. While parents are freed from their busy lives, children also have the opportunity to step out into the world and experience many new and interesting things.

Unlike journalist Lam Linh, MC Diep Chi and her daughter's first trip was her first business trip after giving birth. Despite having to take her child on a trip in such a busy environment, MC Diep Chi said that every day, she only spends 4-5 hours on work, the rest of the time will be spent exploring with her child. In contrast to feeling burdened, she shared: "Thanks to my child, I travel a lot. And my child is the motivation for me to explore the world more."

To save costs and facilitate the work of parents, fathers and mothers should plan 1 year in advance for foreign trips and if possible, can hunt for 0 VND tickets of airlines. If possible, should move to the off-peak season, not on weekends and holidays. However, note that peak seasons can vary between countries. Besides, parents can choose to stay at homestays, especially homestays with small children because who knows, you will also be lucky to stay for free like MC Diep Chi and journalist Lam Linh?

Although being with children and having more interesting experiences with them, it cannot be denied that traveling with children will also have to face certain disadvantages, and one of them is the issue of health and safety for children. For example, in the case of journalist Lam Linh, her daughter was seriously ill while traveling and had to be hospitalized due to heat stroke. At these times, especially when traveling abroad, buying travel insurance for both children and parents is a very necessary step because it will solve all risks from transportation to medical.

Journalist Lam Linh especially loves backpacking trips with her daughter.

For those who think that traveling with children is difficult and expensive, the fact is that children under 4 years old will be free of bus and subway tickets, hotel accommodation as well as priority when queuing at the airport. However, one last important thing that not all parents pay attention to is to carefully check their child's passport because the child's passport is only valid for 5 years instead of 10 years like adults. Therefore, parents should carefully review all documents and verify information before making a schedule to avoid unnecessary risks during the trip.
