"Transformation" is the concluding event of a series of residency, creative activities, and exhibitions organized by VCCA in collaboration with Luong Art Space, showcasing 35 stone sculptures from 9 artists: Dao Chau Hai, Le Thi Hien, Khong Do Tuyen, Le Lang Luong, Luong Van Viet, Tran An, Thai Nhat Minh, Luong Trinh, and Dao Tan.
The inspiration for the "Transforming" art series originates from Ninh Van commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province – home to a long-standing traditional stone carving village. From raw stone blocks, artists have transformed the shapes, colors, and forms, creating works in diverse styles and artistic personalities. This also breaks away from the conventional material choices of each artist, creating a playground for diverse ideas and showcasing contemporary expression on materials of all eras.

In addition to the exhibition, VCCA will organize art seminars with the participation of artists, experts, and art critics to analyze the beauty of sculpture. - Photo: VCCA
The artworks are displayed in a sophisticated space; from the arrangement to the lighting, everything highlights the lines and details of the pieces, while simultaneously creating a kind of communicative language that connects the viewer with the exhibited stone sculptures.
In particular, instead of just viewing from a distance like in typical exhibitions, viewers are allowed to get up close and interact with the "Transformation" artworks by touching them and posing for selfies, thereby creating their own works in connection with the stones.

Sharing his thoughts on the event, curator and sculptor Khong Do Tuyen affirmed that "Transformation" will bring art lovers fascinating stories about stone: "The artistic evolution of 'Transformation' reflects the sentiments of the group of sculptors - always looking towards their homeland and roots - where countless generations of skilled artisans have created numerous architectural and artistic works preserved throughout the country."
