At the conference “Visit Portugal - Come and explore the city of Fatima” held on the morning of June 16, 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City, Consul General Afonso Viera introduced the beautiful country of Portugal. Portugal is one of the countries with the oldest borders in Europe, renowned for its diverse natural landscapes and a wide range of attractive recreational activities. In addition, with its rich cuisine, famous wines, and the hospitality of its people, Portugal has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe today.

Portuguese and Vietnamese cultures share many similarities, and an increasing number of Portuguese tourists are visiting Vietnam. Conversely, the trend of Vietnamese tourists traveling to and learning about this beautiful Iberian nation has also increased significantly in recent times. On July 2nd, Emirates Airlines (UAE) will officially launch its new routes: Hanoi-Porto (via Dubai) and Ho Chi Minh City-Porto (via Dubai), an event that will significantly contribute to the development and promotion of Portuguese tourism in Vietnam.

At the conference, Consul General Afonso Viera enthusiastically introduced Porto to the delegates. In Portugal's second-largest city, visitors can enjoy fine wines, seafood cooked in a catapult (a traditional cooking utensil used to prepare Portuguese seafood dishes), and shopping. Porto boasts historic textile shops, historical museums, stunning murals, and street art on every corner – activities that inspired author J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels. Visitors can also explore the Lello bookstore or the beautiful Art Deco Café Majestic.
It's no coincidence that Porto was recently ranked second in Culture Trip's list of the 12 most worthwhile cities to visit in 2019 (after Oaxaca, Mexico).
Consul General Afonso Viera presented a round-trip ticket to Portugal to Ms. Pham Quynh Chau (Tin An Study Abroad and Travel Company).
At the Portugal tourism promotion conference, the organizers also held a lucky draw with the prize being a pair of round-trip tickets from Vietnam to Portugal. The lucky winner was Ms. Pham Quynh Chau from Tin An Study Abroad and Travel Company.
The conference promoting Portuguese tourism was organized by the Portuguese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the following brands: Turismo Portugal, Aciso, Aicep Portugal Global, Troia, Optylon Krea, Study & Research in Portugal, Politecnico de Leira, and Universidade Catolica Portuguesa.
