Accordingly, Covid-19 patient number 46 (30 years old) served on a flight from London (UK) to Hanoi at 5:00 AM on March 9th. On March 11th, this flight attendant was quarantined at the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital No. 2, and on March 12th, she was found to be infected with Covid-19.
At an emergency meeting convened on the morning of March 13, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized that a new situation had emerged in Hanoi and required the involvement of citizens and accommodation establishments.
It is known that the location where the illness originated was the flight attendant's quarters on Nguyen Son Street (Long Bien District), and the patient's home address is in Thanh Xuan District. After returning to the flight attendant's quarters, the patient ate at several places in the area, such as Alley 148 Nguyen Son, and stayed at a hotel in Co Linh (Long Bien District), but did not return home to Thanh Xuan. Currently, 22 close contacts have been identified, including 5 in Long Bien District (1 driver of the flight attendant's quarters and 4 flight attendants).
According to the Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, out of the 187 passengers on flight VN54 that landed at Noi Bai on March 9th, 94 have been identified, mostly British nationals currently residing in Hanoi, primarily in Hoan Kiem district.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the flight had 211 people on board, including 195 passengers and 16 crew members. The flight attendant who tested positive for Covid-19 worked in the economy class.
Among the connecting passengers, 7 flew to Ho Chi Minh City, 3 to Da Nang, and 1 to Hue. For international connections, 6 passengers went to Japan and 1 to Laos. Currently, 177 passengers may still be in Hanoi, not including those who disembarked at the airport and traveled by road to other locations.
Hanoi is currently continuing to work with accommodation establishments and travel agencies to update itineraries, contact tracing information, etc., in order to promptly inform other localities for disease prevention.
