On the day of the trip, the group members arrived at Dadaocheng Old Town. On this trip, we will adventure with Travel Blogger Tam Bui and the members to learn about the ancient architecture, ancient people and ancient cuisine in the old town of Taiwan.
Dadaocheng Ancient Town - a destination for lovers of traditional tea and fabric
Dadaocheng is located in the Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is one of the oldest areas in Taipei and is famous for selling Chinese medicinal herbs, incense, fabrics, traditional Chinese medicine, and ceramics. There are many teahouses and traditional fabric stores in this area. These products are exported a lot and have high commercial value.

Alongside the refurbished shops selling vintage goods, you’ll find a number of creative spaces and design shops selling modern products housed in historic buildings. Art Yard 1 is a great place to start your exploration, with a bookshop, textile design shop and more on offer. Wandering down Dadaocheng Street, you’ll find ceramic shops, boutiques and numerous craft workshops.
Dadaocheng has beautiful baroque architecture and traditional Taiwanese low-rise buildings. Whether it is historical buildings, traditional folk customs, tea shops, fabric shops, traditional Chinese medicine shops, local delicacies... everywhere there are traces of history.

For a more upscale experience, the Dahzi area is the place to be. Coffee shops, sweet shops and food markets line the old shopping district, alongside new additions like the Man Mano cheese factory and the Nordic craft beer Mikkeller.
The markets in Dadaocheng have maintained their culture despite the many changes of the times.
In particular, there is no shortage of places to eat and have fun, most of which are located along the main road in Dadaocheng Street. From traditional Taiwanese noodles and rice dishes to fried chicken and thick squid soup... Dadaocheng is definitely a destination that visitors will need to save for a delicious meal.
Additionally, you'll find plenty of teahouses, traditional medicine shops, temples large and small, and the area's most striking feature is its Japanese colonial buildings (some houses and shops date back to the Qing Dynasty).
