Once an old sugar factory during the Japanese colonial period, Ten Drum Cultural Village is now a 5-hectare complex with 16 old warehouses. Based on the idea of reusing the old space, this place was taken over by the Ten Drum performance troupe in 2005. Gradually, a community of locals and tourists came together to learn and preserve the traditional drumming culture of Taiwan. A new journey of this abandoned factory began. This is considered one of the first drumming art and cultural villages in Asia.

The entire complex was designed and renovated by a famous architect, Mr. Liu Guo Cang. At night, Ten Drum Cultural Village becomes a beautiful sugar factory filled with light. In just 7 years since its opening, thanks to its unique architecture and excellent promotion, Ten Drum Cultural Village has become increasingly famous and attracted many international artists from all over the world to come here to perform. Ten Drum Cultural Village's dream of promoting traditional Taiwanese drumming to the world is gradually coming true.
At the drum museum, visitors can admire the art of drumming and watch performances by international artists. The theater stage is built on the gears of five sugarcane presses joined together. The stage floor uses transparent tempered glass, allowing the audience to observe the entire operation of the gears while enjoying the performance. The combination of the soft beauty of history and the liveliness of drum playing techniques in the performance allows the audience to fully enjoy the local heritage, human culture and art of this place.

Inside the museum, there will be music experience rooms, a small theater, a prayer room, and various exhibition rooms. Visitors can also visit the Ching Ci Lin drum factory and learn about the traditional drum-making process. And the Ten Drum troupe will also teach tourists the basic drum playing method.
After the drum performance, the members visited the Maintenance Bookstore. This building used to be the maintenance area of the sugar mill during the colonial era. Today, metal cutters are used as workbenches and bookcases, and hard hats are used as improvised lampshades. There is also a cafe serving desserts inside the bookstore in case you want to spend some time reading.

There is also an amusement park with a slide converted from an old chimney. This place was originally a sugarcane storage facility and has now been redesigned with vertical walls for those who love climbing and adventure games. After visiting the famous places of the village, visitors should not forget to taste the local specialty at the Ten Drum restaurant. The chef here uses cane sugar in most of the dishes and the way the dishes are decorated is also very interesting when served in a drum-shaped bowl.

Visit the Sicao Green Tunnel to learn more about local history and nature
Leaving Ten Drum Cultural Village, the group members headed towards the ferry terminal in Annan District of Tainan City to visit the Sicao Green Tunnel.
Sicao Green Tunnel is an area located behind the drainage canal of Sicao Dazhong Temple, surrounded on both sides by over 50-year-old native mangrove forests and rows of trees, creating a green natural tunnel.

Sicao Dazhong Temple is dedicated to the naval admiral Chen Tze (also known as Chen Yu). Founded in the 39th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1699), Sicao Dazhong Temple celebrates his outstanding military service. The 300-year-old temple is the religious center of the Sicao area of Annan County.
Located behind the drainage canal of Sicao Dazhong Temple, the Sicao Green Tunnel is a canal surrounded by indigenous mangroves that are over 50 years old. Nature has enveloped the canal, creating a tunnel-like landscape, and it is also called a “mini version” of the Amazon. The Sicao Green Tunnel is also Taiwan’s only aquatic green river.
Before boarding the boat, passengers need to wear life jackets, sun hats and head protection. On both sides of the tunnel, there are occasional herons, night herons or other birds flying at low altitudes. The boat guide will tell you about the diverse ecosystem of Dazhong Temple Mangrove Forest Reserve along the way. Visitors can also observe aquatic species and other creatures under the mangrove forest through binoculars. The natural beauty of this ecological forest will captivate any photographer who comes here.
