Specifically, at approximately 3:45 PM on February 26th, a speedboat with registration number Qna-1151, belonging to Phuong Dong - Hoi An Tourism Company, was carrying 39 people, including 36 tourists and 3 crew members, from Cu Lao Cham Island to Cua Dai port. When it was about 2 km from the Cua Dai coastline, the speedboat was suddenly capsized by waves.
Upon receiving the news, authorities and local residents organized a search and rescue operation.

Colonel Nguyen Quang Nam, Deputy Commander of the Quang Nam Border Guard - who directly commanded the rescue operation at the scene - said that the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard Command had deployed 35 officers and soldiers from Cua Dai Border Guard Station and Cu Lao Cham Border Guard Station, along with 6 canoes and many fishing boats from fishermen and tourist boats from businesses to participate in the search and rescue operation.
By approximately 5 PM, authorities and fishermen had searched for and rescued 34 people, including 10 who had died and 2 who were in critical condition. The search for the remaining victims is currently ongoing.

Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An City, informed that due to unfavorable weather conditions with strong winds and waves, the search for victims is facing difficulties. The incident occurred near Cua Dai pier, and there are no people left in the canoe.
"The remaining six victims are drifting at sea. Ten canoes and hundreds of people have been mobilized for the search," Mr. Son said.
