23/11/2021

On the afternoon of November 22, a fire broke out in Ha Long Bay in the Bai Chay area (Quang Ninh) when two cruise ships were on their way back to the port to anchor. Although the fire was extinguished a few hours later, the two ships were still almost completely burned.

During the journey from Cam Pha to anchor at the port area in the sea area of Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, two overnight cruise ships of Dong Duong Cruise Joint Stock Company suddenly caught fire. Initially, the fire suddenly broke out on one ship, but at that time there was a strong wind at sea, both ships were in close position so the fire spread to the neighboring ship quickly.

The two ships that caught fire were named Ngoc Rong 03, registration number QN-6218, and Cong Chua, registration number QN-5616. Both ships have been out of service for nearly two years, so they do not carry passengers, only crew members work on board.

May mắn, những người trên thuyền đã được cứu hộ kịp thời và không có thiệt hại về người.

Fortunately, the people on the boat were rescued in time and there were no casualties.

Sau nhiều giờ nỗ lực, mặc dù ngọn lửa đã được dập tắt nhưng cả hai tàu gần như đã bị thiêu rụi hoàn toàn.

After many hours of effort, although the fire was extinguished, both ships were almost completely burned.

Immediately after the incident, Ha Long International Passenger Port mobilized forces along with specialized fire fighting vessels of the unit to coordinate with authorities and some nearby ships to put out the fire.

Ha Long International Passenger Port said that both cruise ships were not registered to operate at the port but were from elsewhere and caught fire when they arrived in the area.

Currently, the authorities of Quang Ninh province are coordinating with the People's Committee of Ha Long city to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire and calculate initial damages.
