After more than 2 years of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, on the afternoon of November 17, Quang Nam welcomed 30 international tourists to stay at Nam Hoi An (Hoiana) resort, after Vietnam Airlines flight number VN417 landed at Da Nang airport. The tourists were mostly overseas Vietnamese families visiting relatives and some foreigners from the US, Canada, and South Korea.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Vietnamese living in Germany said that he was very happy to have the opportunity to return to Vietnam after many years away. As planned, his trip will last 3 weeks, after completing the closed tour, he and his family will return to his hometown in Bac Ninh to visit relatives.
As soon as they landed, the group received a warm welcome from the airport staff.
All guests were given flowers and had their photos taken at Da Nang airport.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province said that according to the plan, Da Nang airport will welcome two more international flights in November, including: Vietjet flight VJ7969 from Incheon airport - South Korea, expected to land on November 18 with about 100 passengers, and Bamboo Airways flight QH9455 from Incheon airport - South Korea, expected to land on November 25 with about 200 passengers.
Tourists coming here must have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, have a negative test result within 72 hours, have insurance covering Covid-19 treatment, and participate in a package tour program of a travel agency.
After completing the procedures, visitors will travel to the Nam Hoi An (Hoiana) complex for relaxation. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province in coordination with Hoiana resort organized a meeting and welcome program, presented flowers and souvenirs to the first group of international visitors to Quang Nam.
According to the plan, during the tour program in the province, visitors can use services in Hoi An ancient town, My Son relic site, Hoiana, Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An, Vinpearl Resort & Golf Nam Hoi An, TUI Blue Nam Hoi An resort according to the available schedule.
Hoi An had heavy rain on the first day of opening.
Hoi An city officially opened for tourism on November 15, however, due to heavy rain, the streets of Hoi An were somewhat deserted, even the Japanese Covered Bridge - a place that attracts many people to check-in, had no one in sight.
Not only due to the weather, the epidemic situation is also the reason why many tourist destinations in Hoi An are hesitant to open. Even though many shops have reopened, the number of customers is still very sparse.
Due to the "gloomy" atmosphere of the first opening day, Hoi An city in particular and Quang Nam province in general attach great importance to organizing events to welcome tourists, even though carrying out such events is very difficult during the epidemic period.
Many shops have reopened but are still very empty.
Previously, Quang Nam province was highly appreciated for its preparations for epidemic prevention, response plans, and handling of arising medical incidents in the fastest and most flexible manner, so that all activities to welcome tourists in the province could take place smoothly and safely. Currently, all workers and employees at tourist destinations and service providers have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
However, tourism activities in Quang Nam province have not yet fully resumed because many places are still reviewing the epidemic situation and are expected to return at the end of November or December.
Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam - Director of Hoi An Culture - Sports Center said that currently, the functional sectors are preparing urban landscape works to be ready to serve tourists from November 23.
