Moc Chau is about to inaugurate the world's longest pedestrian glass bridge.

The world's longest pedestrian glass bridge, the Bach Long Bridge, has a total length of 632 meters and is located in Muong Sang commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province. This is one of the attractions that Son La province will open to tourists on the upcoming April 30th - May 1st holiday.

The bridge deck system consists of three layers of 40 mm thick glass – a single pane of glass, if broken, can withstand a force of 5 tons; the height of the bridge deck from the ground is 150 m. The glass was tested by having trucks drive across it; after installation on the bridge, it was also test-driven by cars and was evaluated as one of the glass bridges with a safety factor many times greater than the calculated actual load capacity.

This bridge will be one-way. Although the bridge has a load capacity of thousands of people, the maximum number of visitors on the bridge at any one time is limited to approximately 500 to ensure maximum safety.

Mr. Long Trung Tam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Moc Chau District, also stated: "Moc Chau District is actively coordinating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La Province to complete the procedures for granting permits to put the tourist area into operation. In addition, the district will also strengthen urban beautification; invest in more lighting systems, environmental sanitation, etc., to welcome and serve tourists visiting Moc Chau during this period in the best possible way."

Mr. Tâm further shared that this is a major event for Mộc Châu district and Sơn La province, expected to be attended by the head of government and a large number of local people and tourists.

The Bach Long Glass Bridge spans two mountains, with a length of 290 meters and a 342-meter section precariously perched on the cliff; the main bridge deck is 2.4 meters wide, and the glass walkway along the cliff is 1.5 meters wide. At the end of the glass bridge is the Sacred Bird Cave, featuring natural stalactites and associated with the legend of the sacred bird, passed down orally by the local people for hundreds of years.

The bridge has two 30-meter-high towers. The base of the towers is designed to be sturdy, with supporting cables from South Korea drilled 30 meters deep. The entire cable car system is also imported from South Korea, with each cable bundle containing 7 strands, each 50 mm in diameter.
