Previously, not many tourists ventured to the Bronx, which has long had a reputation as a gangland. The borough's most notable tourist attractions include the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Garden, and the longtime baseball powerhouse of the New York Yankees. But since the Joker movie premiered in early October, many New Yorkers and international visitors have been flocking to these stairs to take selfies or imitate the Joker's "legendary" dance moves in the movie.

For longtime Bronx residents like Laura Harry, such stairs are a normal sight in this steep borough. Harry has lived here for 30 years, and people like her use the stairs every day. "I'm glad they're making this place famous," Harry said, watching people take pictures on the stairs.

Joker, directed by Todd Phillips and distributed by Warner Bros, has dominated the box office for the past two weeks. The blockbuster broke the record for the biggest October opening weekend in cinema history, grossing $96.2 million.
