Hanoi, the capital city, is preparing for the most spectacular moments of transition to welcome the new year. According to the plan recently approved by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Command, the New Year's Eve fireworks display in 2026 will be a highlight in a series of large-scale cultural and artistic events. With five firing points spread across the districts, residents and tourists will be able to admire a breathtaking light show, combining high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks.
According to official information, the fireworks display will last 15 minutes, starting at 11:45 PM on December 31, 2025, and ending at midnight on January 1, 2026. To ensure maximum visual impact, the city has decided to mobilize a total of 4,000 high-altitude fireworks and 360 low-altitude fireworks displays. The placement of the firing points has been carefully calculated by the authorities to ensure both fire safety and to provide the best possible viewing conditions for the crowd from various angles.
Hanoi mobilized more than 4,000 high-altitude fireworks for a 15-minute display to welcome the new year 2026.
In the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi, there are two main fireworks display locations: one in front of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper headquarters and another in front of the Hanoi Post Office. Notably, this area is also the venue for the Countdown 2026 program with the theme "Opening Real Connections". Taking place from 7 PM to midnight at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, the program promises to bring together top artists.
For those who love green spaces and open areas, Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district) is an unmissable choice. It's a familiar fireworks display spot, but it always has its own unique appeal thanks to the large surrounding water area, allowing people from Le Duan or Dai Co Viet streets to clearly observe the fireworks.
The Nam Tu Liem and Tay Ho districts promise to attract a large number of young people. At the F1 racetrack (Tu Liem ward), with its modern infrastructure and spacious area, the fireworks display is usually spectacular, suitable for those who want to avoid the crowds of the Old Quarter but still want to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden by West Lake, visitors will experience an extremely romantic way to celebrate the New Year.

The final fireworks display location on the list is Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong District. Diversifying these locations is part of the city's policy to alleviate traffic congestion in the core area, while also bringing the joy of the New Year closer to all residents at the gateways to the capital.
Hanoi is also making early plans for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026. It is expected that the fireworks display on New Year's Eve (February 17, 2026) will be even more impressive, with 31 firing points at 32 locations across all districts, towns, and communes. The city is researching the application of modern light show technologies such as drone lights in combination with traditional fireworks to enhance the experience for the public. According to Plan No. 350/KH-UBND of the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Vu Dai Thang, this year's Tet activities will be imbued with a humanitarian spirit, ensuring social welfare and strongly promoting the image of tourism in the capital city.
Diversifying fireworks display locations at the capital's gateways aims to ensure traffic safety and cater to the entertainment needs of people in suburban districts.
To enjoy a perfect New Year's Eve celebration, people are advised to travel early to fireworks display locations and prioritize using public transportation to avoid traffic congestion.
For groups of friends or families wanting a "million-dollar view," making reservations in advance at high-rise cafes or restaurants around Hoan Kiem Lake and West Lake is absolutely essential. With the meticulous preparations of the Hanoi Capital Command and all levels of government, the New Year's Eve fireworks display in 2026 will surely be a spectacular start, instilling in people confidence and excitement in their journey to conquer new heights.
