MINI celebrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding with a unique, specially designed MINI Hatch to commemorate the occasion and donate to one of the charities chosen by the couple. Following the wedding on May 19th, this one-of-a-kind MINI will be handed over to the Children's HIV Association (CHIVA) for public auction.
“As an iconic British brand with nearly 60 years of history, we are delighted to mark the Royal Wedding with this special charity gift,” said Oliver Heilmer, MINI’s design team. MINI created a one-of-a-kind MINI Hatch for the event. The specially designed hood, combined with personalized 3D-printed interior and exterior details and unique embroidery, makes this MINI unlike any other.”
Exterior
The car is finished in a unique Crystal White paint, with silver-blue accents around the body and on the hood, giving the car a completely different look. The characteristic MINI design elements are still recognizable through the chrome trim, hexagonal grille, door handles, and headlight and taillight surrounds, highlighted in dark blue, giving the MINI a modern and fresh feel. The Union Jack-style taillights and dark blue matte metal wheel arches provide the perfect finishing touch to the car's appearance.
The hood design incorporates handcrafted techniques and 3D printing.
A special highlight of the exterior is the multi-colored paint finish on the hood. The hood's intricate patterns are meticulously handcrafted in multiple layers, incorporating motifs from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's national flags – the Union Jack and Stars & Stripes. Particularly noteworthy are the 3D-printed right turn signal covers, featuring the initials M and H along with a heart and a ring. When the front doors are opened, a strip of light reflecting the words "Just Married" illuminates the ground, welcoming the owner into the vehicle.
Over the past few weeks, the MINI Yours Customized program has given MINI customers in select markets the opportunity to make their MINI truly unique with the help of 3D printing technology on personalized side skirts, door trims, and lighting.
Interior
The choice of Satellite Grey leather creates an ideal space to highlight the distinctive elements of the MINI. The dark blue exterior with chrome trim is found on the selected chrome-trimmed interior features. The first letters of the bride and groom's names, the wedding date, and best wishes for the newlyweds have been added to the large trim strip in front of the front passenger seat. A special feature of the interior is the classic inspiration taken from the hood graphics, integrated into the decorative strips on the doors, behind the steering wheel, and into the headrests. In the rear, one side features a detail panel from Union, and the other side is adorned with Stars & Stripes.
