The tourist night market along the Han River is about to disappear.

Strategically located at the foot of the Dragon Bridge, Son Tra Night Market has long been a familiar destination for tourists visiting Da Nang. It attracts a large number of visitors, especially on weekend nights or during festivals, where they can shop for souvenirs, enjoy local specialties, immerse themselves in the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of the city at night, and admire the impressive fire and water show from the Dragon Bridge.

However, according to the latest announcement from the People's Committee of Son Tra District, Da Nang City, the Son Tra night market will officially close from July 1, 2024. The reason given is that the land lease contract between the People's Committee of Son Tra District and the night market management unit has expired and has not been renewed.

The closure of Son Tra night market is predicted to significantly impact tourism in Da Nang city. However, many locals have expressed their agreement with this decision, as the night market has recently been plagued by issues such as counterfeit goods, substandard products, high prices, and scams targeting tourists.

Currently, the Son Tra District People's Committee is researching and surveying to find a suitable new location for organizing a tourist night market. Hopefully, in the future, Da Nang will have a new, spacious, and modern night market that better meets the needs of tourists and contributes to promoting the city's tourism industry.
