On the morning of July 9th, leaders of the Son Tra Ward People's Committee (Da Nang City) confirmed information about a serious paragliding accident that resulted in the death of a male tourist on the Son Tra peninsula on the evening of July 8th. The victim was identified as Mr. Hoang Quoc T. (born in 1989, from Hung Yen province, temporarily residing in Ho Chi Minh City).
Immediately following this tragic incident, the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism promptly suspended all paragliding activities on Son Tra Peninsula to conduct a safety review and inspection. At the same time, the Department is actively assisting the victim's family in completing the relevant legal procedures.
The Director of the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism confirmed that a tourist died while paragliding on Son Tra Peninsula on the evening of July 8th.
Regarding the incident, the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department (Da Nang City Police) reported that at 5:45 PM on July 8th, they received a report about a tourist who had an accident while paragliding on Son Tra Peninsula. Immediately, a rescue vehicle and 7 officers and soldiers were dispatched to the scene to carry out the search operation.
Following the incident, the Department suspended paragliding activities for inspection and actively assisted the victim's family with related procedures.
The rescue forces coordinated closely with the Son Tra Border Guard Station, the Son Tra Ward People's Committee's civil defense, the ward police, and the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang City beaches to urgently search for the victim.
At 7:50 PM on the same day, after many hours of effort, the authorities found the victim, Hoang Quoc T., in a deep ravine near the foot of the mountain. Unfortunately, Mr. T. had already passed away.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 PM on July 8th. After taking off from a point on the Son Tra peninsula, Mr. T. and another person (the parachute operator) encountered a problem and fell to the foot of the mountain, near the coast (Illustrative image).

The incident once again raises concerns about safety in extreme sports and the responsibility of tourism service providers.
