Tuy Hoa City Chairman "surprised" when Nghinh Phong Tower Square received an award from WTA

On the morning of December 22, the People's Committee of Tuy Hoa City (Phu Yen) held a press conference to inform about the two international awards of the Nghinh Phong Tower Square project (Tuy Hoa City) and the programs to welcome the Year of the Dragon of the City.

At the press conference, a representative of Tuy Hoa City People's Committee said that Nghinh Phong Tower Square was awarded the Asian Urban Landscape Award (ATA) in 2023, at a ceremony held in Korea in November 2023.

Then, at the end of November 2023, in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), the World Travel Awards (WTA) awarded the World's Leading City Monument 2023 to the Nghinh Phong Tower Square.

At the press conference, journalists questioned why the Organizing Committee of the World's Leading City Monument 2023 award did not send an invitation letter to representatives of Tuy Hoa or Phu Yen province to receive the award, but the Vietnam Golf Association sent a letter announcing this award of Thap Nghinh Phong Square? Which agency is responsible for preparing the dossier to nominate for the above award?

Responding, Mr. Luong Thao Nguyen - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Tuy Hoa City - said that in 2022, the president of WTA visited and worked in Phu Yen and discussed with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province about proposing Nghinh Phong Tower Square to be nominated for the categories of the WTA award.

"The Vietnam Tourism Association and the Vietnam Golf Association have sent a dispatch to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province regarding the award of this WTA to Nghinh Phong tower," said Mr. Nguyen.

In further discussion, Mr. Cao Dinh Huy - Chairman of Tuy Hoa City People's Committee - said that he himself was very surprised with the WTA award of Thap Nghinh Phong Square because this award was voted directly on the organization's website.

"The 2023 WTA award is an online voting award and originated from the fact that the Nghinh Phong Tower Square received the ATA award earlier. We arranged it but couldn't make it in time, because we only knew about the award 3 days in advance, but another member received the award on our behalf.
