Heading to the "Nẫu" region of Phu Yen

25/07/2023

"Phu Yen is in its most beautiful season of the year. A tranquil Phu Yen, not only boasting blue seas and golden sunshine, but also holding immense cultural and historical value. This land of 'golden flowers on green grass' is gradually winning my heart in its own unique way," Phuong Tali (Hanoi) shared with Travellive.

Phu Yen, a stunning coastal land in the South Central region of Vietnam, boasts diversity with mountains on three sides and a vast system of rivers, lagoons, bays, and islands. It retains its pristine and mysterious beauty, a special gift from nature to this land.

Returning to Phu Yen after a year, Phuong Tali couldn't hide her excitement while chatting with Travellive. Phuong said: "I came here once last year, and this year I chose Phu Yen again for my summer vacation because my experience here was so impressive."

The ideal time to visit Phu Yen

Phu Yen enjoys two distinct seasons, which makes travel plans more convenient for tourists. The ideal time to visit this region is from January to August. During this period, the weather is stable and comfortable for tourism activities.

However, if tourists choose to visit between September and December, they need to be careful of the prolonged rainy season, especially in Central Vietnam. Persistent rains can make visiting tourist attractions difficult. "Consider and plan your trip meticulously to avoid unnecessary inconveniences and to fully enjoy the pristine and majestic beauty of Phu Yen. When I went in the summer, it was hot and sunny, but all the natural scenery under the clear blue sky of Phu Yen was as beautiful as in a movie – definitely worth experiencing," Phuong said.

The winding mountain passes are also a characteristic feature of this sun-drenched and windy region.

"Pocket these must-see places"

Ong Cop Wooden Bridge - the longest wooden bridge in Vietnam.

The Ong Cop wooden bridge in Phu Yen, built in 1998, is considered the longest wooden bridge in Vietnam, measuring nearly 800 meters in length and approximately 1.5-1.8 meters in width. It's not just an important transportation route for the local community; it also attracts hundreds of tourists daily who come to visit and capture beautiful moments on the bridge. The beauty of this place lies not only in the rustic simplicity of the bridge itself, but also in the surrounding natural scenery, with its vast, clear waters and lush green casuarina trees.

The bridge serves as a shortcut to famous landmarks in Phu Yen such as Ganh Da Dia, O Loan Lagoon, Mang Lang Church, Tam Giang Dam, etc.

"Walking amidst that vast expanse, I felt so small. This check-in spot is quite interesting, but you also need to be careful when coming here. Because the bridge is only made of wood and bamboo, it's not very sturdy, it shakes a bit, and occasionally you might stumble due to gaps created by the uneven wooden planks," Phuong recalled.

Mang Lang Church - a century-old architectural landmark in Phu Yen

This church attracts visitors with its beautiful European Gothic architecture, a style famous worldwide. With its dominant gray-blue color, the church blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape, where lush green fields encircle it.

Another unique feature of this place is the small underground chamber, though small, it is built with exquisite craftsmanship. Inside the chamber, delicate sculptures tell the story of Saint Andrew of Phu Yen, creating a mystical and unique atmosphere.

Notably, the Mang Lang Church is also recognized as the place where the first book written in the Vietnamese Quốc ngữ script is preserved. This precious book, titled "Eight-Day Sermon" by the missionary Alexander de Rhodes, can be admired by visitors in a cave on the church's artificial hill.

Ganh Da Dia - a masterpiece of nature

It can be said that the beauty of Ganh Da Dia is a masterpiece bestowed by nature upon Phu Yen. The rocks at this location are basalt, formed approximately 200 million years ago through volcanic activity on the Van Hoa plateau. Lava flows from the volcanoes cooled rapidly upon contact with cold water, leading to natural shrinkage and cracking. This is the reason for the creation of these uniquely beautiful and mysterious rock formations.

However, what is particularly astonishing here is the tens of thousands of hexagonal, circular, and square stone pillars stacked on top of each other in an exquisite manner. These pillars are arranged consecutively as if by the hand of a god. Seen from afar, Ganh Da Dia resembles a giant beehive, standing out in the blue sea, creating a mystical and mythical beauty.

Phuong Tali said: "Ganh Da Dia in Phu Yen is one of only five basalt rock formations in the world where volcanic eruptions created these incredibly beautiful shapes. This shows that nature has been extremely generous to Vietnam, bestowing upon us such a magnificent wonder."

Bai Xep - a pristine paradise

Bai Xep was once a pristine, little-known place until it became a famous filming location for the movie "I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass". Because it hasn't been heavily developed for tourism, the landscape here still retains its unspoiled, pristine beauty.

With its beautiful, unspoiled coastline, Bai Xep beach attracts visitors with its shimmering golden sand embracing crystal-clear turquoise waters. You'll feel the refreshing coolness of the water. Or, standing on the green grass and gazing out at the distant sea, the cool breeze dispels the heat and fatigue, bringing a feeling of relaxation and freshness. "With its enchanting and peaceful beauty, Bai Xep is an ideal destination for those who want to find and enjoy simple moments amidst nature," Phuong shared.

"Every journey gives us a chance to live a new life."

The 3-day, 2-night trip has come to an end, but Phương is left with countless lovely and memorable experiences in Phú Yên. She enthusiastically shared: "Phú Yên has almost everything wonderful for tourism. Beautiful scenery, delicious and affordable food, and friendly, enthusiastic people. I remember our days here; everywhere we went, we were welcomed. It felt like traveling to a faraway place, yet feeling very close and familiar."

Mỗi chuyến đi lại mang đến thật nhiều trải nghiệm, trái tim rộng mở đón nhận những điều mới mẻ hơn

Each trip brings so many experiences, and opens our hearts to embrace new things.

When asked about her favorite place in Phu Yen, Phuong's eyes lit up when she mentioned Dai Lanh Lighthouse. She was proud that it was the place where the first sunrise in Vietnam could be seen. Following the trail, climbing to the top of the lighthouse, standing high above and looking down at the vast expanse of land, sky, and sea, the ships slowly passing by, the majestic rocky gorge... all those experiences will probably never fade from Phuong's memory.
