The 2021 Christmas Concert was organized by Operaphillia – a group of young artists and vocal students from art schools in Hanoi, who share a passion for opera and classical vocal music. The group was founded in October 2020 and had previously held several concerts in Hanoi with the aim of using music and art to bring spiritual values to society and to build and enhance community culture.
Since the beginning of December, the group has been promoting their Christmas concert at Hanoi Cathedral. However, due to the pandemic situation leading to limited audience capacity and the inability to satisfy the large number of people eagerly anticipating the event, the group decided to collaborate with the Vincom Contemporary Art Center (VCCA) to hold an additional concert there on December 25th.

For centuries, under the patronage of the Church, composers created masterpieces, not only within the realm of sacred music, but also works that resonated deeply with people's lives, expressed in many musical genres such as opera, oratorio, cantata, and symphony…
Today, all over the world, in the curricula of many conservatories, in prestigious concert halls, or in ancient cathedrals, one can hear hymns in programs by many famous singers and artists. Operaphilia and VCCA will bring to classical music lovers hymns, arias from operas and oratorios, and grand choral works—masterpieces of music by Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Verdi, Dvorak, and others—as a warm gift for Christmas 2021.
