According to the plan, the Hue Imperial Citadel Night Street will be piloted in phase 1 starting from January 1, 2022, within the area from The Nhon Gate to 23rd August Street and Le Huan Street from Nam Thang Fortress to Yet Kieu Street, aiming to create experiences to learn about Hue culture through activities simulating Nguyen Dynasty festivals, folk art, street festival activities, shopping for Hue specialties, etc. After the pilot phase, the city will review and evaluate to continue implementing the pedestrian street with four streets including: Le Huan, 23rd August Street, Dang Thai Than Street and Doan Thi Diem Street.
In particular, besides creating cultural experiences, Mr. Vo Le Nhat - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City - recently announced that the Imperial Citadel night street will not sell alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine to tourists visiting for entertainment and sightseeing. Instead, it will sell products with distinct Hue characteristics at 28 stalls.
Mr. Vo Le Nhat stated: "We aim to build a night street with a strong Hue cultural character, highlighting the ancient Hue Imperial Court's art and culture. In the future, this pedestrian street will incorporate more nighttime tourism activities and experiences related to the Hue Imperial Citadel and the Hue Imperial City complex after the residential areas are relocated."

Currently, preparations for the pedestrian street are almost complete. The city government is also encouraging businesses in the area to hang Hue lanterns and decorative lights that do not use white light to decorate the entire street. After its opening in early 2022, the Hue Imperial Citadel night street will feature many unique artistic activities, reflecting the rich imperial and folk culture of Hue. It is expected that the pedestrian street will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings each week, from 7 PM to 11 PM.
The neighborhood will feature 28 stalls and 4 areas for cultural activities in the park on Le Huan Street.
This will be Hue's third pedestrian zone for nighttime activities, combining tourism and cultural experiences, following the previous pedestrian zones of Nguyen Dinh Chieu and the "Western" area of Chu Van An - Pham Ngu Lao - Vo Thi Sau on the south bank of the Perfume River.
