The flight, which spans 20km from Switzerland to Germany, actually only takes you from one side of a lake to the other. This is considered the shortest international flight in the world today, lasting only... 8 minutes.

In 2016, an Austrian airline launched a direct flight from St Gallen-Altenrhein Airport (Switzerland) to Friedrichshafen Airport (Germany). In reality, passengers only fly across the two shores of Lake Constance, a distance of approximately 20km, with a total flight time of 8 minutes. This is why it became the shortest international flight in the world.
