Hop on hop off is quite popular in tourist cities and is very familiar to backpackers around the world, but few Vietnamese people use it. In Kuala Lumpur, hop on hop off will take tourists to must-see attractions, but you can explore them in your own way, not depending on tour guides or pre-arranged schedules.

Rooftop seats are always the most sought after.
The bus has guides in 9 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish, making it quite convenient for foreign tourists. Each bus has a very dedicated customer service staff who is fluent in many foreign languages, so tourists can consult or ask for any information from them. For destinations that require entrance tickets, these staff are also willing to sell you tickets at the listed price.
Schedule
The bus will stop at 22 points with about 40 famous buildings throughout the capital Kuala Lumpur. Visitors can choose any stop they want from the list instead of going to all the destinations and freely explore the place according to their interests.
In other words, with this type of tour, you have full control over where to visit and how long to stay, without depending on anyone. This is really useful for those who like backpacking, because you can look up information about destinations online in advance and then choose the places that really interest you. If you go on a tour, you will waste a lot of time and energy in places that are not really suitable for you.
You also don't have to worry about being left behind or constantly looking at your watch to keep track of time because there is a bus every 20 - 30 minutes. At some stops, the bus will stop for 5 - 10 minutes before departing again. During this time, you can take advantage of a quick visit to see if the location is interesting or not, if not suitable, you can return to the bus immediately to continue the journey, instead of having to wait for the next bus.

Time
The hop-on hop-off ticket is valid for 24 or 48 hours depending on the type of ticket you purchase. During this time, you can get on and off the bus, going to the locations on the schedule an unlimited number of times and within the bus's operating time.
The first bus departs at 8:30am and ends at 8:30pm. The bus runs 365 days a year, including public holidays.
Where to buy tickets
You can choose to buy tickets at 3 locations: the airline's official ticket office, ticket agents or at some hotels affiliated with the bus company.
The official ticket office of the bus company is located at Jalan Bukit Bintang (stop 6 on the map), the Malaysia tourist center at Jalan Ampang or at KL Sentral bus station (arrival station) and at Central Market.
A quicker way is to buy a ticket at the scheduled stop from the customer service staff on the bus. The staff will punch a hole in the ticket to determine the time you board the bus.
There are two types of tickets: 24-hour tickets cost RM45 (about VND300,000) and 48-hour tickets cost RM79 (about VND550,000). Children under 5 years old are completely free, children from 5 to 12 years old pay half the ticket price and children over 12 years old are considered as adults.
This is a fairly economical tour for those who do not have a budget for a truly comfortable trip. Instead of taking a taxi which is very expensive when moving between locations, a hop on hop off ticket will take you around the city for quite a long distance. You only have to pay entrance fees at some destinations.
Note
- Hop on hop off bus is a double-decker bus, with a part of the second floor without a roof. If you visit the city early in the morning or after 5am, you should choose this seat to fully feel the atmosphere and scenery along the way. However, due to its beautiful location, it is often "taken".
- Although the ticket is valid for 1 or 2 days, each day only runs for 12 hours. Therefore, you should choose a reasonable time to get on the bus to make the most of your time. According to the experience of some backpackers, you should get on the bus around early afternoon and go until the end of the operating hours. Rest for a night, the next morning, you can still continue to explore the city until the end of the time written on the ticket. If you buy a ticket early in the morning, a day of activity will make you tired quickly and not have enough energy to explore in the last hours.
- The only downside of this type of tour is that there is no tour guide, so for those who are traveling for the first time, it will be a bit difficult. You should research information online in advance and choose a few destinations that are really interesting. In fact, all the places are worth visiting and learning about, but 22 stops in 12 hours of driving, including the time on the road, seems a bit overwhelming. Selective sightseeing is a smart choice.
- Don't stay in one place too long because it will leave you without enough time for other attractions.
- The bus company also recommends that passengers should not get on the bus during rush hour from 4-6pm to avoid long waiting times due to traffic jams. During this time, you should have a light snack or go sightseeing and take photos.
