Becoming a freelance photographer means you have the opportunity to travel to many places. For Trieu Tu An, he chose to experience life on Phu Quy Island after having traveled from North to South Vietnam. Through his lens, the photographer hopes to express his unique personal perspective. Notably, Trieu Tu An doesn't plan ahead when taking pictures; he cycles around the island and stops to capture the perfect moment.
"I usually stroll along the island's edge to watch the sunrise in the morning, then take some photos, and in the afternoon I cycle around," Trieu Tu An shared with Travellive.

According to Trieu Tu An, the people of Phu Quy Island are very friendly, hospitable, and honest. Most of the locals are from Phu Yen, so they have a distinct local accent. Trieu Tu An confided that he initially had difficulty communicating because the people spoke quickly and used many dialects. After a while, the young photographer became accustomed to the peaceful way of life there.

Trieu Tu An chooses unusual camera angles, photographing places and objects spontaneously. The photographer captures small beaches, hiking slopes, rocky outcrops, abandoned houses around the island, or any objects he encounters.
"There are many places I saw while cycling that were beautiful, so I took pictures but I don't know their names," said Trieu Tu An.
The biggest challenge in shooting this photo series was the weather. Trieu Tu An arrived on Phu Quy Island during a tropical depression, resulting in unpredictable sunshine and rain. Many times, while working, a sudden downpour would occur, or the sky would be too cloudy to capture the sunlight. Fortunately, the weather stabilized a few days later, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
"I'm satisfied with what I captured through my lens. I'm also happy with the main purpose of the trip, which was to preserve the most beautiful aspects of the places I visited. My perspectives will be somewhat different from others. In the coming days, I will continue to find and photograph more beautiful scenes to share with everyone," Trieu Tu An told Travellive.

Phu Quy Island, also known as Thu Island or Khoai Xu Island, is a small island located about 120 km southeast of Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan province. Besides the main island, Phu Quy is surrounded by Hon Da Cao, Hon Do, Hon Tranh, and Hon Hai. Although Phu Quy Island covers just over 18 square kilometers, it boasts a wealth of beautiful scenery, landmarks, and experiences.
The climate on the island is pleasant and cool year-round. The best time to explore Phu Quy Island is from December to June of the following year, as the typhoon season usually falls between September and November. In spring and summer, the sea is calm, clear, and the wind is gentle, making it easy to travel to the smaller islands. However, there are occasional rough seas, so visitors should check the weather forecast before going to the island.
