As part of the "Days of Wonder" series of activities promoting Taiwan tourism, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, in collaboration with Travellive Media Group, organized the "Yen" event at the Hilton Saigon Hotel on the afternoon of May 20, 2025. The event aimed to connect Vietnamese businesses and Taiwanese tourism, while also introducing new wellness tourism experiences in Taiwan.

Modern life, with its hectic work schedules, leaves people with little time to take care of their health. According to the Gallup Global Emotions Report 2023, 44% of adults worldwide experience high levels of stress for most of the day. In Asia alone, this number is even higher, with 87% of working adults experiencing prolonged stress.

Therefore, wellness travel has become a prominent trend in the global tourism industry. According to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), this industry is growing at an average rate of 21% annually from 2020 to 2025, reaching a value of US$651 billion in 2022 and projected to surpass US$1.1 trillion by 2025. This trend is further fueled by the increasing number of professionals, leaders, and urban middle-class individuals choosing wellness travel as a way to care for their mental health, restore physical well-being, and rejuvenate energy, rather than simply for rest or recreation.

Wellness travel is a growing trend globally.

In this context, Taiwan is considered a new but promising destination for wellness tourism development in the Asian region. At the "Yen" event, Mr. Derek Chou, Chief Representative of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Vietnam, introduced the unique advantages that make Taiwan increasingly attractive to tourists seeking wellness experiences combined with intensive health care.

The "Yen" event, organized by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in collaboration with Travellive Media Group, took place at the Hilton Saigon Hotel on the afternoon of May 20, 2025.

According to Mr. Chou, Taiwan has over 100 natural hot spring areas, diverse in mineral composition and topography. Many famous hot spring areas, such as Beitou, are located near the center of Taipei, making them easily accessible to tourists without having to travel far. Besides its natural resources, Taiwan also stands out with its therapeutic tourism models combining Eastern and Western medicine. Many spas and health resorts here have teams of traditional Chinese medicine doctors who provide direct consultations before performing acupressure, massage, and physiotherapy treatments – a model not yet common in many other countries in the region.

Furthermore, Taiwan is highly rated by the WHO for the quality and cost-effectiveness of its healthcare system. Environmental hygiene and personal safety are also prioritized, making it suitable for solo female travelers or senior citizens. With reasonable service costs, numerous direct flights from Vietnam, and a favorable visa policy, Taiwan is becoming increasingly accessible to Vietnamese tourists. Travelers can also combine diverse experiences, from relaxation and nature exploration to culinary delights and shopping, all in a short trip, thanks to the island's compact yet diverse landscape. These factors combined make Taiwan an ideal destination for the emerging trend of "wellness + work + solo travel" (solo health and wellness travel combined with remote work).

Taiwan possesses many unique advantages that help it stand out in the wellness tourism market compared to other countries in Asia.

During the event, Mr. Derek Chou further shared: “Vietnam is a key market for Taiwan's tourism in Southeast Asia. In 2024, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Taiwan reached nearly 490,000 – the third highest in the ASEAN bloc. We hope to continue facilitating businesses to connect with new products, especially themed tours and unique resort destinations suitable for young customers, families, and high-end travelers.”

As the fifth event in the “Days of Wonder” series, “Yen” continues the success of previous events such as “Dai Cac” (Ho Chi Minh City), “Xuan Dai Nha Tap” (Hanoi), “Lam Dai Mien Vien” (Da Nang), and “Dai Uyen” (Hanoi). This series of events is implemented with the continuous support of Taiwanese airlines such as EVA Air, China Airlines, and STARLUX Airlines.

Inspired by peace and relaxation, this year's theme, "Peace," evokes the spirit that Taiwanese tourism is striving for – refined journeys that deeply connect people, culture, and nature.

This event was attended by representatives from over 50 Vietnamese businesses and many partners from various sectors, creating a space for networking, sharing, and expanding B2B opportunities for collaboration. The program was organized in support of Hilton Saigon Hotel – the venue sponsor.

Through "Yen," the Taiwan Tourism Bureau hopes to further expand connections with Vietnamese businesses, while showcasing the image of a gentle yet profound Taiwan, an ideal destination for those seeking rest, rejuvenation, and renewed inspiration amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life.
