Halloween originated from Catholic countries. This name is a combination of two words Hallows Eve (All Saints' Day or All Saints' Day), celebrated on the last day of October, the purpose of praying for the souls. The festival starts in the evening of October 31 until midnight. Therefore, Halloween 2022 will fall on Monday, October 31.
Halloween is a traditional festival held on October 31 every year, considered as a New Year's Day, the happiest festival of the year especially for young people because of the extremely mysterious and attractive games.
In Vietnam, Halloween is a new cultural activity introduced in the open era. Unlike the original festival, Halloween in Vietnam is mainly a fun occasion and does not have strong religious and ritualistic colors.
Giap Le Tu, currently an office worker, said that his workplace recently not only organizes office decoration activities on Halloween but also on other occasions such as Christmas and people gather to celebrate the event together. These activities will help the office environment to be less boring and connect people more with each other.

Talking about the difference between Halloween in Vietnam and abroad, Giap Le Tu shared: "In Vietnam, as I personally noticed, if 10 years ago it only started in 1-2 bars and only those with a lot of personality (more LGBT) would dress up to portray the character they wanted. But in the past 4 years, Halloween has really been an occasion for costume enthusiasts because no one will judge or feel strange simply because on this day, no one will say anything about dressing up and it will be sought after by everyone and the media. The more elaborate, splendid, and unique the costume, the more admired it is. Entertainment venues also boldly carry out many decoration activities and gifts for those with the most unique costume. However, in Vietnam, people will only stop at dressing up and will not understand clearly what Halloween really means. As for foreign countries, especially European and American countries, this day originated from their country, so the history will have interesting stories more interesting, more meaningful than just dressing up."
With Halloween, dressing up is probably the only activity that Giap Le Tu loves on this occasion. The only occasion to dress differently from social norms without being criticized or judged.
Carnival is a ritual that is paid much attention to on this day. Each person will choose for themselves a costume to dress up in the most unique and impressive way. Everyone can freely transform into the models they love. It can be a cartoon character, a movie actor, a horror animal, a person with a strange, ghostly face... and together happily parade on the street.
Or for Tran Thuan, on this day she does not like crowded places because of the noise, dust, traffic jams, but instead gathers a group of friends to have fun together. If it is more grand, it is to organize a party, prepare a meal, compete to see who has the best costume, perform talents...
Instead of going to crowded places, Tran Thuan likes cozy parties with friends and playing games together.
"Even simpler, I would invite you to watch a horror movie because the end of October is also the time when many horror movies are shown in theaters. If you don't like going to the theater, you can organize a movie night at home, it's more free, fun, and comfortable," Tran Thuan said.
In addition, checking in at cafes decorated in Halloween style also attracts many young people on this occasion. "Impressive" Halloween decorated cafes is a phrase that some young people have searched for in recent days to plan to check in and "live virtually" during the upcoming "ghost festival".
Hanh Moe also showed off her pretty pictures next to a giant pumpkin in a coffee shop. Her clever choice of outfits and the color scheme that matches the space of the shop also produced some extremely "cool" photos. Looking through these photos, people can't help but feel excited and are busy preparing outfits to play the role of Western European country girls and boys.

"If you don't know where to take Halloween photos, choosing a few cafes decorated in Halloween style is also quite ideal. With my photos taken at a cafe decorated like an 'autumn field', not the usual spooky Halloween concept," Hanh Moe said.
Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain in Europe. Due to cultural exchange as well as the development of media, Halloween has become a favorite holiday of today's youth. Although it only takes place for one night, Halloween is one of the biggest festivals in North America. People here spend a lot of money every year on costumes, candy, and decorations with the sole purpose of... scaring each other.
In addition, popular activities during Halloween include: children dressing up to knock on neighbors' doors to ask for candy, attending costume parties, lighting bonfires, carving pumpkins, apple bobbing, playing pranks, watching movies or telling horror stories...

Masquerade is considered the most popular activity.
However, many countries around the world observe this day as an occasion to remember the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the faithful who have passed. The traditional focus of Halloween revolves around the theme of using "humor and ridicule to confront the power of death".
If in the past, Halloween only took place in Catholic Western countries, now, due to the mixture of religious rituals and ancient customs of many different cultures, it has become an annual cultural event that many people around the world look forward to.
Like Western countries, Halloween in Vietnam has also become a special occasion, a playground for young people to satisfy their passion for creativity and unique costumes. The entertaining holiday is an opportunity for people to have fun, relieve stress and fatigue.
