During a recent trip to Moc Chau, photographer Viet Anh took a series of photos of his daughter Ella wearing ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) for Tet (Lunar New Year) amidst the plum blossom valley of Moc Chau.
"This year it's hot, so the first blooms came early. At this time, there are only a few out-of-season plum blossoms left. Only locals can guide you there, and it's a bit difficult to get to; you have to travel by motorbike to meet the orchard owner. The most beautiful and easiest time to get to the orchards by car is after the Lunar New Year, around the 6th-10th day, when the blossoms are at their most beautiful in the Na Ka plum valley," photographer Viet Anh said.

Moc Chau boasts many famous plum-growing regions such as Mu Nau plum valley, Pa Phach village, Na Ka valley, Thung Cuong valley, and sub-districts 84, 86, and Co Do (Moc Chau's main plum growing area)... The peak plum blossom season usually begins in mid-January and lasts until the end of February each year. When visiting plum-growing areas, tourists can ask locals to find out which orchards are in full bloom.
The ideal time to take photos in the plum blossom garden is between 7-9 am or 3-5 pm. The sun isn't too harsh during these times. At 7 am, you can admire the dew on the branches and leaves, and in the afternoon, you can see the sunset.
According to Viet Anh, the best times of day to take photos, if it's a sunny day, are from 7-9 am, 3-5 pm, or midday from 12-1 pm. On normal, non-sunny days, any time of day is fine.

At the beginning of the year, besides the out-of-season plum blossoms, there are many other places to check in at in Moc Chau.
The photographer also added that besides the plum orchards, Moc Chau has many other beautiful places such as tea hills, rose gardens, the Mong ethnic minority valley, and the Fairy Waterfall... Basically, these places are not far apart, about 10-20 km from the center.
Before traveling to Moc Chau, tourists should check the weather forecast and pack warm clothes.
"The scenery and air are very fresh and pristine, largely untouched by human impact. Luckily, the photos were taken on a sunny day. The two days I spent in Moc Chau were the two sunniest days of the month. The temperature was around 18-20 degrees Celsius during the day and 15-16 degrees Celsius at night, basically about 3-4 degrees Celsius colder than Hanoi," the photographer shared.
