This bold idea is part of the city government's "Marry an Amsterdammer" campaign, aimed at bridging the gap between tourists and locals, and reducing overcrowding in public spaces throughout the city.
Tourists who register will have a wedding ceremony with a local from Amsterdam, complete with flowers and a wedding dress.
Specifically, female tourists only need to register to not only receive a "husband" but also a complete wedding ceremony, complete with flowers and a wedding dress. After exchanging vows, the couple will hug instead of kissing and begin their honeymoon. The groom will guide the bride to visit many interesting places in the city, experience the life of the locals, and explore lesser-known areas of Amsterdam. After a day of experiences, this short "marriage" comes to an end.

To register for this service, tourists will pay approximately 100 euros (about 2.5 million VND). Participants will not be bound by any legal obligations.
Since its launch, the "Marry an Amsterdammer" initiative has been enthusiastically embraced and supported by hotels, travel companies, and tourists alike. Weddings between tourists and locals have become an attractive cultural feature in the journey of exploring this famous European city.
Interestingly, this activity has resulted in many couples becoming legally married after enjoying a wedding day and honeymoon in Amsterdam.
Reportedly, since May 2019, Amsterdam has stopped promoting tourism due to the pressure of the huge number of visitors. The city government has implemented a series of measures to prevent overcrowding, including banning new hotels in the city center, prohibiting tours to the red-light district, and increasing tourism taxes.
