Go to Mexico for dinner under the stars.

27/03/2020

Have you ever dreamed of enjoying dinner under a canopy of twinkling stars? That would be an amazing experience for anyone. The good news is that the Interstellar restaurant in Mexico can help you turn this seemingly surreal dream into reality.

No need to fly into space, the Interstellar restaurant in Mexico City (located inside the Citibanamex shopping center) invites you to dine under the stars while staying indoors. Inspired by the captivating mysteries of the universe and the Nolan brothers' 2014 science fiction film "Interstellar," the design team created a spectacular space with inspiring decor – where diners can enjoy an "out-of-this-world" experience.

Over 250,000 LED lights are subtly incorporated into the restaurant's spaces, scattered across the ceiling and along the walls. The light from these bulbs becomes even more magical against a backdrop of black light that extends from ceiling to floor. This striking contrast creates an immersive experience, making you feel like you're in a wondrous wonderland. This effect is amplified by the seating, with mirrored tabletops that double and reflect the starry canopy, creating the illusion that the stars around you are endless.

Beyond the lighting system, the designers continued the otherworldly theme at the entrance to Interstellar. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves feature texts suspended in mid-air, as if they too were floating in space.

Thanks to this, the 200-square-meter restaurant will give diners the feeling that they are dining under the stars or in an extraterrestrial location.

Interstellar was designed as part of Millesime Mexico 2019, an annual food festival, through a collaboration of three design firms: Almazán y Arquitectos Asociados, Concepto Taller de Arquitectura, and Pin Studio.

If you ever get the chance to visit Mexico City, don't miss the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind restaurant.
