If you want to experience one of the most beautiful roads in Vietnam, Hai Van Pass is the perfect choice for you. Nguyen Dinh Hoang Khanh, a blogger who regularly shares his trips on social networks, could not hide his excitement after enjoying the beauty of the "world's most majestic pass".
Sharing with Travellive, Mr. Khanh said: "Compared to other passes in Vietnam, to me Hai Van is not too long or too dangerous, but has its own charm."

Hai Van Pass is also known as Ai Van Pass or May Pass.
Hai Van Pass is also known as Ai Van Pass or May Pass. With a length of about 20 km, the pass is located on National Highway 1A and is the border between Thua Thien Hue province (80 km from Hue) and Da Nang city (20 km from Da Nang). Hai Van means "Sea and Clouds", the name speaks to the beautiful scenery of the pass with the ocean and clouds drifting on the mountain top. During the day, it depends on the weather, but in the evening, the scenery of Hai Van Pass is always white due to the cloud cover.
At an altitude of 500 m above sea level, Hai Van Pass winds across the Bach Ma mountain range. The scenery here offers a stunning view of the high mountains and the vast East Sea. Hai Van is considered one of the most important mountain passes in Vietnam, with a strategic location as a gateway for trade between the Central and South Central regions.

Jeremy Clarkson, the host of the reality TV show Top Gear (UK), once commented that this place is one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. Hai Van is also 4/10 of the most attractive roads for tourists to check-in on the Instagram platform.
Hai Van Pass is considered one of the most beautiful coastal passes in the world, a masterpiece of nature bestowed upon Vietnam. The image of the rugged yet beautiful road with majestic mountains, with clouds drifting on the mountain top makes visitors suddenly remember the rhythm of the song "The train passes the mountain", the beauty has entered into unforgettable musical melodies.

The higher you go, the more overwhelmed you will be by the beautiful natural scenery here. The sound of the mountains and forests, the cold wind blowing on your body, you will have an unforgettable impression.
Standing from the top of the pass, looking south, you will see the modern, bustling city of Da Nang, Tien Sa port, Cu Lao Cham and Son Tra peninsula. Looking north, you will see fishing villages, Lang Co bay with its emerald green beaches.

Hai Van Pass stands out among the vast forest, like a silk strip across the horizon, no different from a fairyland.
“From the moderately inclined curves at the foot of the pass, you can see the whole view of Da Nang city and Son Tra peninsula. Until the last curve, when the steering wheel has just turned, Lap An lagoon, fishing village and Lang Co bay appear before your eyes. The two scenes are almost opposite, the south of the pass in Da Nang is a modern, developed city with high-rise buildings and prominent bridges; the north of the pass in Hue is much more peaceful,” said Mr. Khanh.
The road to conquer Hai Van Pass is not easy with winding and zigzagging roads along the mountainside. Hai Van Pass stands out in the middle of the forest like a silk strip across the horizon, no different from a fairyland.

Mr. Khanh suggested that because Hai Van Pass is located on the national highway, you can choose to travel by car, motorbike, bicycle, etc. At Hai Van Pass, visitors can look far away with majestic mountains on one side and the vast ocean on the other, all blending together to create a magnificent natural picture.

Sharing about the most memorable memory of the trip, Mr. Khanh confided: “That time, I left Hue for Da Nang a bit late, so when I arrived at the foot of Hai Van Pass, it was around 6 pm. That day was the full moon day, when I just passed the top of the pass, it was Da Nang. The moonlight shone down on the sea, creating a shimmering, dim light, and in the distance were lights showing the modernity and constant development of the coastal city. The bright full moon seemed to decorate the quiet black sky and the deep mountain slopes, in the distance were a few fishing boats. I have heard and read many poems, but this was the first time I enjoyed the dim light from the moon shining down on the sea, it was extremely magical. The scene and atmosphere at that time, until now, I still can hardly forget. So this is also my suggestion, go to Hai Van Pass and enjoy the beauty of this place on a moonlit night, I think everyone will not be disappointed”.

Hai Van Pass has its own beauty at each moment.
According to Mr. Khanh, Hai Van Pass has its own beauty at each time. On sunny days, the sky is blue, a few white clouds above blend with the sea below, making the scene here become poetic and majestic. The dark blue of the sky, the gentle blue of the sea and the green of the trees, all create a picture of the perfect combination of nature. On rainy days, the weather is gloomy, the temperature drops, clouds will appear on the top and near the top. Sometimes the clouds are hovering, sometimes they are dense, almost forcing drivers to drive very slowly because they cannot see the road clearly.
