According to Elba's official tourism website, tourists will be able to stay overnight for free for several days if the rainy weather lasts for more than two hours at a time, between 10am and 8pm each day.

To qualify for the offer, guests must stay at one of the participating accommodations. Claudio Della Lucia, Elba’s tourism coordinator, said that a rainy weekend forecast can lead to a drop in bookings of more than 20% compared to normal. So the #ElbaNoRain initiative is a concrete guarantee for guests that, in case of rain while traveling, they can still enjoy everything the island has to offer without paying a single euro for accommodation.
“This is a pilot project for May, but as the number of applications for the program continues to grow, we are considering continuing the project in the fall,” Claudio added.

Elba is located off the coast of Tuscany, one of Italy's most popular tourist destinations, on the Ligurian coast, just east of Corsica. Most visitors arrive by ferry from the coastal town of Piombino, but it is also accessible by small plane from Milan, Florence, Pisa and other Italian cities.
The island is popular for its beautiful beaches. But it is also famous for being the area where Napoleon lived in exile. Visitors can explore the island's history through ancient ruins, some dating back to the Etruscan period.
