Officially starting from June 2, the Danang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2023 with the theme "World without distance" will go through 4 nights of competition to find the 2 best candidates for the championship: France and Italy.
Entering the "final battle", the Italian team, with the mindset of a record holder as the only team to win DIFF twice in a row, chose to lead the audience from a deep and quiet feeling, bustling and excited to a rising pride with The Power of Art. Meanwhile, the "newcomer" France possesses the confident spirit of the proud "Galouis roosters" to capture the emotions of the audience, lighting up the world without distance with the story of love. Notably, in each team's performance, a Vietnamese song resounded, bringing tens of thousands of spectators from a vibrant mood with "Fly" by singer Thu Minh to proudly singing "Vietnam in me is".
The DIFF 2023 championship title belongs to France with a convincing victory
This time, art gave way to love. The championship title was won by the French team with a convincing victory for their “top-notch” performance.
Closing a brilliant fireworks season, DIFF 2023 deserves to be awarded the most prestigious trophy: the trophy in the hearts of visitors and participating teams. Just like how the captain of the French team, Edouard Gregoire, affirmed after winning the championship: “The people here welcomed us so enthusiastically and the organization was very well organized. We would like to thank the Organizing Committee. We will definitely come back next year.”
DIFF's impressive comeback
The Vietnamese flag and flags of countries participating in DIFF 2023 fluttered on stage during the final night.
The return of the DIFF brand after a 3-year hiatus could not be more appropriate in terms of timing. Because after a period of hibernation and a period of awakening in the sleepiness of 2022, people and tourists are thirsty for something explosive to relieve the depressed emotions they have endured during the pandemic. The sluggish tourism economy in all destinations, not just Da Nang, also needs a heavy dose of "doping" to explode, to unleash motivation. And DIFF is the answer to all that thirst and suppression.
With the theme “World without distance”, DIFF 2023 has given Da Nang a month of “eating and sleeping with fireworks” with many impressions and also full of hope for the recovery of the tourism industry. Every weekend for over a month, flights have been landing at Da Nang International Airport, the streets are packed with people pouring into the fireworks stage, restaurants are full, and hotels are always operating at almost full capacity.
The city's Department of Tourism said that DIFF is the driving force to spread and promote the city's tourism development in the coming time. More than 30,000 audiences came to watch 5 shows, 8 teams from 8 countries, thousands of volunteers and hundreds of domestic and foreign media agencies gathered to work for more than a month, contributing to adding heat to Da Nang's summer.
Restaurants are full and hotels are always operating at almost full capacity every competition night.
According to statistics, during the June period of DIFF, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at nearly 706,000, an increase of 34.1% compared to the same period in 2022. Room occupancy during this period regularly reached 70%; revenue from accommodation and catering services reached 1,874 billion VND. The number of flights to Da Nang was up to 150 flights/day, 1.5 times higher than usual.
These telling numbers not only show the scale and appeal of DIFF 2023 but also reaffirm that DIFF has truly become a “big festival” for the local tourism industry, immediately bringing an optimistic growth signal for Da Nang tourism. DIFF once again helps Da Nang affirm its title as “Asia’s leading festival and event destination”.

DIFF 2023 has ended, but the echoes of the "peak" performances of the competing teams will be memories that will remain forever in the hearts of the audience, and the championship of the French team will be a milestone recorded in history.
The figures recording the growth in tourists, flights, revenue from accommodation and services... will certainly be the necessary "doping dose" for the Da Nang tourism industry to have more motivation to conquer new heights. As Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said at the Final night: "After tonight, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2023 will end, but the city's dreams and aspirations will continue to be nurtured and spread."

According to many experts, if invested in more systematically, with a larger, more modern grandstand, and a "fireworks ecosystem" including resorts, cuisine, shopping, entertainment, etc., the Da Nang Fireworks Festival will turn the Han River city into a "new fireworks destination" of the world.
