The "VIP" apartment they paid for two weeks' rent is described as having a Turkish bath with hot tub, king-sized bed and private elevator, located at the top of the Las Boas complex. It also has a private marble terrace. The apartment is also dog-friendly, which is perfect for the Felthams when they are on holiday with their two Yorkshire Terriers.
Las Boas Complex
The photos were taken from various apartments for sale or rent on the luxury resort’s website, Las Boas. Mr. Feltham was skeptical about the “unbelievable” apartment before the trip, as the rental company, Lux Travel Collective, had provided little information and had gone silent for several days before check-in. When the Felthams tried calling Las Boas, a staff member said there were no apartments matching the description.
Mr. Feltham contacted Airbnb and was passed around, refused a refund, and told that customers could only get refunds if they arrived and couldn’t get into the apartment. So on September 16, the couple flew to Ibiza and couldn’t check in. They and their two dogs had to drive another 40 minutes to the nearest animal-friendly hotel, paying nearly $250 a night for a room.
The Felthams
For his part, Ian Feltham expressed his dissatisfaction with the way Airbnb handled the incident, even though Airbnb later contacted the customer to apologize. They promised to refund the $11,800 to the traveler, but did not offer any additional compensation. The rental apartment was also suspended from the website pending the results of the investigation.
