The resort is nestled entirely within the Ba Vi National Park, just about 70 km from the center of Hanoi. If you visit on a day without thick fog, looking down from Cote 600, you will see the winding Da River and Red River nestled amidst the green of the forest.

The first striking feature of the resort is the abundance of greenery throughout the pathways. The exterior walls of the restaurants, lounges, and residences are covered in lush plants, interspersed with rhododendron flowers, hydrangeas, and charming young figs. Despite the abundance of trees, on cool, dry days, the resort is surprisingly free of mosquitoes, perhaps only teeming with bees diligently collecting nectar.

Built on the architectural style of the French colonial era, strolling through any corner of the resort, visitors will easily encounter remnants from the French construction – from old, moss-covered bricks and sturdy, aged pillars to a former French restaurant on the ground floor, now elevated to the second floor.

Beyond its "green" environment, Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat offers guests a truly "green" lifestyle. The resort rejects single-use plastic products, replacing them with items made from bamboo, wood, and recycled paper, such as bamboo straws, reusable fabric/paper bags, and personal hygiene products made from wood, bamboo, and loofah.
Even some furniture in the room, such as cabinets, tables, chairs, and lamps, is gradually being replaced with bamboo – not only offering uniqueness but also a practical choice to "save" wood – a precious natural resource.
In addition, Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat is also implementing an organic vegetable farming project, with the fresh produce being used directly in the resort's restaurants, ensuring absolute safety for guests dining there. The resort's fish ponds, duck farms, and bird garden are also being expanded to become a future tourist attraction for children.

As a 5-star resort meeting international standards, belonging to the Melia hotel group, Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat completed construction and began welcoming guests in mid-April 2018. Also in 2018, Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat received the Best Annual Oversea Hotel award from Voyage magazine of China.
