Tourists to Hanoi in the first quarter increased by 45.3% compared to 2021
According to a report by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, it is expected that in the first quarter of 2022, there will be about 2.8 million visitors to Hanoi, and they will be mostly domestic tourists. This number increased by 45.3% compared to the same period in 2021, earning about 7.8 trillion VND.
Regarding the hotel business, as of March this year, Hanoi had 3,725 tourist accommodation establishments with 70,011 rooms, of which 591 hotels were ranked from 1 to 5 stars with 24,415 rooms, accounting for 15.9% of the total number of tourist accommodation establishments in the area. The average room occupancy rate of 1-5 star hotels is estimated at about 19.3%, down 1.9% over the same period in 2021.

To prepare for the opening of tourism, the Department of Tourism has carried out a number of propaganda, promotion and tourism development cooperation activities such as: preparing for the event"Get on Hanoi 2022"; organize a survey team, link tourism development between Hanoi - Binh Dinh and some Central Highlands provinces.
In addition, the Department also sent a number of proposals and recommendations to implement a cooperation program with CNN to promote the image of Hanoi on CNN International television channel in 2022.
Promoting Hanoi tourism in the last 9 months of the year
The Hanoi Department of Tourism has launched many plans to promote the city's tourism development in the new normal conditions. These include diversifying forms of promoting destinations and tourism products on media channels; actively cooperating with provinces and cities as well as departments, branches and units to implement many activities, events and festivals imbued with the capital's identity and aiming at international integration.
On the occasion of hosting the 31st Sea Games, the number of international tourists in the region is expected to increase, Hanoi is more actively coordinating to organize activities, products and programs to promote the city's tourism before and during the Sea Games.
Regarding tourism products, the city will promote the development of night tourism products; heritage tourism at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoa Lo Prison relic, Duong Lam ancient village... and spiritual cultural tourism combined with experiences at Chuong Pagoda, Soc Temple, Co Loa...
Many new walking spaces will gradually open in Hanoi, including: Son Tay Ancient Citadel walking street (Son Tay town), Thien Quang Lake walking street (Hai Ba Trung district), Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa night food street (Ba Dinh district),...
Many special programs in the series of outstanding events of the Capital such as: Hanoi Ao Dai Festival, Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival, Hanoi Tourism Ambassador Selection Contest and Hanoi Tourism Song, Food Festival, Hanoi Craft Village Tourism... will all be organized by Hanoi Department of Tourism in the coming time.
In addition, the city also organized a plan to retrain the workforce that was affected during the epidemic, and organized tourism training courses for accommodation, food and beverage service and shopping establishments to meet tourist service standards, ready to welcome tourists to Hanoi in the new normal context.
