Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, director of Tam Dang Khoa speedboat company (An Thoi ward, Phu Quoc city), said that Vingroup and Sungroup have launched many million-dollar, spectacular, and elaborately invested shows to stimulate demand and attract tourists to Phu Quoc.
Currently, Phu Quoc is crowded with foreign tourists from countries such as China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Mongolia. However, domestic tourists have not yet booked many tours for the Tet holiday, especially speedboat tours to visit the four islands in An Thoi ward.
"I prepared 12 canoes to serve tourists during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon this year. However, currently, the number of tourists booking services is estimated at only about 50%. To attract customers, we are offering attractive promotions and discounts at 450,000 VND per person for a 4-island tour, including transportation and lunch on the island," Mr. Tam said.
Local tourism businesses in Phu Quoc are still hoping for domestic tourists to come and celebrate Tet.
On the same day, Phu Quoc International Airport announced that there would be approximately 30 flights bringing domestic and international tourists to Phu Quoc; and about 28-30 ferry and speedboat trips from Rach Gia City and Ha Tien City to Phu Quoc City and vice versa.
"From the 2nd to the 6th day of Tet (Lunar New Year), our unit welcomed more than 20 groups (15-20 people/group) of tourists who booked tours to visit Phu Quoc. Due to the economic impact, I think domestic tourists are also planning their trips more carefully and choosing more convenient destinations."
"We expect more domestic tourists to visit Phu Quoc during the Tet holiday," said Ms. Lam Kim Phuong, director of Vietravel's Phu Quoc branch.
