After the Summit between leaders Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un in Hanoi, Vietnam, tours to North Korea are now being sought after by Vietnamese tourists as a new trend.

According to Tuoi Tre newspaper, after the US-North Korea Summit in Hanoi, many Vietnamese tour operators are hoping to take advantage of that effect as a new benefit to attract more Vietnamese people to visit North Korea. "We have brought tourists to this country before, but the number is still quite modest," Mr. Tu Quy Thanh - director of Lien Bang Travelink Company - shared with this source.

Relations between Vietnam and North Korea are getting better, especially after the recent Summit. In fact, more and more Vietnamese tourists are interested in North Korea and want to explore this mysterious country than ever before.

Saigontourist also shared that they will start organizing two tours a month from Hanoi and Saigon to North Korea since the Summit. According to Mr. Vu Dinh Tuan, director of Saigontourist's international travel branch, his company has restarted trips to North Korea since October last year. They have organized five tour groups to the country and the overall feedback has been very positive. In addition, Ms. Truong Thi Thu Nga, deputy marketing director of Viettravel, also shared a similar insight.

Previously, tours to North Korea were often "avoided" due to high costs, complicated political conflicts, as well as cumbersome and very strict visa procedures.

Mr. Tuan also said that after the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore and Hanoi, the cost of travel to North Korea has decreased and visa procedures have been shortened. This has contributed to creating an extremely optimistic effect for both tour operators and tourists.

One small note is that most tours to North Korea require you to go to Beijing first, as Air China is currently the only airline that flies to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.
