Railways offer summer ticket discounts of up to 40%.

To stimulate tourism and meet people's travel needs during the summer, the railway industry is implementing a ticket discount program of up to 40%, depending on the time of purchase, train type, and class of seat. The program is valid from July 1, 2020 to August 16, 2020.

Specifically, for the Thong Nhat SE3/4 and SE7/8 passenger trains (Saigon - Hanoi) with a travel distance of over 900 km, and the SE21/22 train (Saigon - Da Nang) with a travel distance of over 600 km, passengers who purchase tickets 20 days or more before the departure date will receive a discount of 20% to 40% on the ticket price (excluding the 4-berth sleeper compartment on the SE3 train).

For the SQN1/2 (Saigon - Quy Nhon) passenger train service, when purchasing tickets for distances over 400 km, and the SNT1/2 (Saigon - Nha Trang) train service, when purchasing tickets for distances over 300 km, passengers who purchase tickets 20 days or more before the departure date will receive a discount of 20% to 30% on the ticket price (excluding the 4-berth sleeper compartment on the SNT1/2 train).

For the SPT1/2 train service (Saigon - Phan Thiet), passengers who purchase tickets 10 days or more before departure will receive a 10% discount. Please note that passengers wishing to change or cancel tickets will be charged a fee of 10-50% of the ticket price (depending on the trip), and ticket changes must be made at least 72 hours before departure. For the SPT1/2 train specifically, ticket changes must be made at least 24 hours before departure, and ticket cancellations must be made at least 4 hours before departure.

Notably, passengers purchasing group tickets (5 or more people) will receive a discount of 2% to 14% on the ticket price. Passengers purchasing round-trip tickets will receive a discount of 7% to 10% on the return fare.

In addition, travel companies that signed stimulus agreements with Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company in 2020 also received discounts of 10% to 25% on train tickets, applicable to groups of 10 to 100 people. Similarly, tour guides accompanying groups also received discounts of up to 90% on seated or sleeper berth tickets in 6-berth compartments, applicable to 1 to 3 guides depending on the size of the group.

Previously, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company also applied a preferential train ticket price policy for union members from various industries, corporations, businesses, and localities nationwide. Accordingly, the company reduced the price by 5% for individual tickets; 7% for groups of 10 to 39 people; and 10% for groups of 40 or more people.
