Experience Vietnam's longest mountain railway in Sapa.

29/03/2018

Enjoy the breathtaking view of Sapa's cloud-covered landscape from the longest mountain railway in Vietnam, which opened on March 31, 2018.

This is the Muong Hoa mountain railway connecting Sapa town with the Fansipan cable car station. The Muong Hoa mountain railway was invested in and built by Sun Group, aiming to enhance the tourist experience in Sapa. The railway is approximately 2 km long, starting from the MGallery hotel in Sapa town and ending at the Fansipan cable car station. The train passes through two tunnels and four viaducts at a maximum speed of 10 m/s, with a capacity of 2,000 passengers per hour. The Muong Hoa mountain railway shortens travel time to just 4 minutes, compared to the 15-20 minutes it takes by car on the treacherous mountain roads.

The two train carriages were designed and manufactured by Garaventa (Switzerland). Each carriage is 20 meters long, 3 meters wide, weighs up to 25 tons, and has a capacity of 200 passengers. The interior of the Muong Hoa mountain railway train features a classic, elegant European style with a lighting system, antique ceiling fans, and luxurious gold-plated metal trim and details. The train body is fitted with transparent glass windows, allowing passengers to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Northwest mountains.
