The Ford Ranger, a segment-defining pickup truck, recorded record sales in the first half of 2017, solidifying its leading position in the mid-size pickup truck segment in the Asia-Pacific region. Retail sales for the first six months reached 63,525 units, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year.

Impressive monthly sales helped the Ford Ranger achieve record sales in the first half of 2017 in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Ford Ranger became the best-selling pickup truck in many markets, including Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, and New Zealand, and was also the most popular vehicle in New Zealand. Mark Ovenden, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford Asia Pacific, stated: “Ranger sales continue to grow because customers are now looking for a versatile vehicle that can meet their diverse needs for both work and leisure.”

Ranger sales in Australia led the Asia-Pacific region, recording a 19% increase in sales during the first half of 2017, equivalent to 21,638 vehicles delivered to customers. Ranger sales further solidified Ford's leading position in the 4x4 truck segment.
In New Zealand, the Ranger continued to be the best-selling model, far outselling its competitors with 4,980 units sold, achieving a record growth of 24% in the first half of 2017.
With 20,230 units sold in Thailand during the first six months of the year, Ranger sales there saw an impressive leap, growing by 51% year-on-year and capturing 11.7% of the country's automotive market. Customer demand for all Ranger variants has fueled the continuous growth of Ford's pickup truck sales. Meanwhile, Ford's sales report for the Philippines shows 4,596 Ranger units sold, representing a 16% increase, giving Ford a 25% market share in the pickup truck sector.
The Ranger continues to lead the pickup truck segment in Vietnam for the fourth consecutive year, with sales in the first half of 2017 increasing by nearly 2%, reaching 6,985 units delivered to customers. This steady growth has helped the Ford Ranger capture 57% of the pickup truck market in Vietnam.
In Taiwan, the Ranger continues to maintain impressive sales in its segment with a 29% year-on-year growth, driven by customer demand for a versatile vehicle suitable for both work and other activities. Furthermore, the Ford Ranger continues to hold its leading position in promising markets such as Cambodia and New Caledonia, becoming the most popular pickup truck in these countries.
