Ford Vietnam achieved record-breaking full-year business results with its highest monthly sales figure.

With business results exceeding the industry's growth rate for three consecutive years, Ford increased its market share by 1 percentage point, equivalent to 9.5%. Ford closed out 2016 with December sales also achieving a record-breaking best-selling retail month in Vietnam's history, increasing by 10% year-on-year, equivalent to 2,900 vehicles sold.

“The Ranger, Transit, and EcoSport have contributed to a hugely successful year, and we also acknowledge the contributions from all Ford models in Vietnam, which have brought in record sales for many months, including the Focus, Fiesta, and Everest. Ford will continue to strive to connect with more Vietnamese consumers across the country,” said Mr. Pham Van Dung, General Director of Ford Vietnam.

The Ford Ranger, the leading pickup truck in its segment, maintained its position as the best-selling pickup truck in Vietnam for two consecutive years, with sales increasing by 62% in 2016, equivalent to 14,058 units sold. "The Ranger's versatility and ability to conquer challenges have completely dominated the market in recent years," Mr. Dung shared. The EcoSport concluded 2016, reaffirming its leading position in the urban SUV segment in Vietnam with retail sales increasing by 36%, equivalent to 5,413 units sold. The EcoSport delivered impressive December sales results, increasing by 35%, equivalent to 570 units sold. The EcoSport continues to define the small SUV segment with its versatility, fuel efficiency, and smart technology, attracting many customers living in modern cities.

The Transit continued to be Vietnam's best-selling commercial vehicle in 2016, with full-year sales increasing by 22% compared to the previous year, equivalent to 6,850 vehicles sold. Large businesses across diverse service sectors continued to be attracted by the durability, versatility, and value that the Transit offers.

The Focus, equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine, continued to contribute to record sales in 2016 with a 54% increase in sales, equivalent to 1,054 vehicles sold.

Sales of the sporty compact Fiesta increased by 14% in 2016, reaching 949 units sold. Equipped with Ford's 1.0L EcoBoost engine, the Fiesta received the International Engine of the Year award for the fifth consecutive year in 2016.

The imported, premium Explorer SUV, equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine, launched at the Vietnam Motor Show last October, achieved year-end sales equivalent to 111 units sold.
