Visit 2 unique hotels in the US

27/12/2018

During my travels exploring many cities in the United States, I often discover destinations with unexpected surprises that were not in my plan. And these two famous hotels were visited by chance and I am still amazed...

Magnificent hotel in the old train station

Located in the heart of Indianapolis (Indiana), the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown hotel will surprise visitors when a massive structure in the ancient central station is renovated into a magnificent hotel with a tractor engine inside and train cars turned into bedrooms.

This was the first major train station (Union Station) built in the United States in 1888 and although every part of this 130 year old building has been transformed into a stunning space - all are timeless and past, yet still rich in history.

Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower are among the famous people who have passed through this station. It has undergone two renovations, first when it was converted into a shopping center called Festival Market Place which opened in 1986 and then a renovated Crowne Plaza hotel in 1996.

This Romanesque Revival-style hotel has 273 rooms but is best known for its three train lines, the Blue Line, the Green Line and the Red Line, which make up a total of 13 carriages. All of the carriages are named after famous figures from the early to mid-20th century, including Charlie Chaplin, Jean Harlow, Winston Churchill, Amelia Earhart and Louis Armstrong. Each carriage has two bedrooms, making a total of 26 unique bedrooms.

Climb aboard the train and explore deep inside the bedroom, this is truly a miniature world for those who have loved trains since childhood.

Standing next to the white sculptures scattered along the train cars, I really felt the coolness from being immersed in the happy feeling of being “lost” in this wonderful hotel!

Art museum in 21C hotel

21C Art Museum Hotel is one of the most interesting hotels in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. This building, formerly a tobacco factory and liquor warehouse, has been transformed into a boutique hotel with over 2,700 square meters of space.2Includes contemporary art exhibition spaces with attention to detail.

Curiously pushing the door open to explore the lobby, I was extremely surprised to see nude child statues right behind the reception desk.

There is an open space here to display many diverse paintings in the style of a museum in the hotel. The bustling visitors prove the value of the award "Best Place to Stay in Louisville in 2018" by "The Bourbon Review" magazine.

Along the corridor, there is also a large projection screen that anyone can look at to take a selfie, which is also very artistic. And the most beautiful and impressive painting for me is the image of an indifferent girl, if viewed from the right side, she is naked, but if viewed from the left side, she is dressed, hugging and kissing a warrior.

I tried going into the restroom and my mouth was still open with the moving eyes on the mirror as if talking to me, the elevator also had the lights arranged like a work of art. The souvenir counter was all related to contemporary paintings and the image of the red penguin - the symbol of the 21c hotel.

Visitors often dine at 21C's restaurant called "Proof on Main" to enjoy traditional dishes while admiring a very abstract space with many different colors.

I also did not forget to look for the red plastic penguin sculptures standing on the high ceiling of the building, the limousine covered with thousands of red stones or the golden statue of David "wearing nothing" standing proudly right at the entrance.
