Visit two unique hotels in the USA.

27/12/2018

During my travels exploring many cities in the United States, I've often discovered destinations unexpectedly. And these two famous hotels were visited by chance, and I'm still amazed by them...

A magnificent hotel inside the old train station.

Located right in the heart of Indianapolis (Indiana), the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown hotel will amaze visitors as a massive structure in the historic Grand Central Station has been renovated into a magnificent hotel, complete with locomotives and train cars converted into bedrooms.

This was the first major train station (Union Station) built in the United States in 1888, and although every part of this 130-year-old building has been transformed into stunning spaces – all transcending time and the past, yet remaining rich in history.

Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower are among the notable figures who visited this station. It has undergone two renovations: first, when it was transformed into the Festival Market Place shopping center, which opened in 1986, and then as a renovated Crowne Plaza Hotel in 1996.

This Romanesque-style hotel has 273 rooms but is best known for its three train lines—the blue, green, and red lines—comprising a total of 13 train cars. All the cars are named after famous figures from the early to mid-20th century, including Charlie Chaplin, Jean Harlow, Winston Churchill, Amelia Earhart, and Louis Armstrong. Each train car has two bedrooms, creating a total of 26 unique guest rooms.

Climb aboard the train and explore the interior of the sleeping quarters; it's truly a miniature world for those who have loved trains since childhood.

Standing beside the pristine white sculptures scattered throughout the train carriages, I truly felt the coolness of being immersed in the blissful feeling of being "lost" in this wonderful hotel!

Art museum in Hotel 21C

The 21C Museum of Art Hotel is one of the most interesting hotels in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Formerly a tobacco factory and liquor warehouse, the building has been renovated into a boutique hotel spanning over 2,700 square meters.2This includes meticulously designed spaces for contemporary art exhibitions.

Driven by curiosity, I pushed open the door to explore the lobby and was utterly astonished to see the statues of naked children right behind the reception desk.

Here, there's a spacious area displaying a variety of diverse paintings, perfectly embodying the museum-like atmosphere of a hotel. The constant stream of visitors proves the value of the "Best Accommodation in Louisville in 2018" award given by "The Bourbon Review" magazine.

Walking down the corridor, there was also a large projection screen where everyone could look at themselves for artistic selfies. And the most impressive and beautiful picture for me was the image of a girl, seemingly naked from the right but clothed from the left, embracing and kissing a warrior.

I tried going into the restroom and my mouth remained agape as the moving eyes on the mirror seemed to be talking to me. Even the elevator had lights arranged like works of art. The souvenir shop was full of contemporary paintings and images of the red penguin – the symbol of Hotel 21c.

Visitors often dine at 21C's restaurant, called "Proof on Main," to enjoy traditional cuisine while admiring an abstract space with a variety of colors.

I also didn't forget to look for the red plastic penguin sculptures standing on the ceiling of the tall building, the limousine adorned with thousands of red stones, or the gleaming golden statue of David "naked" standing proudly right at the entrance.
