This artwork was created as part of the annual flower festival held every August to celebrate Independence Day.
Held at the historic Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, the 200th annual flower festival made a special impression with a replica of the royal palace made of 300,000 roses. Measuring 14 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 8 meters high, this rose palace left most visitors in awe.
Shweta, a visitor, said: “The flower exhibition was truly amazing and there were so many beautiful flowers. The entrance to the palace was also impeccable. They used so many roses to make it truly colorful. It was wonderful to see this.”
Over 200 species of flowers and vegetables were used in this sculpting program. For Sandeep, the festival truly brought him back to his childhood. Sandeep, a visitor, shared: “It’s amazing to be able to see the flowers in bloom. It’s truly spectacular. I came to this special flower festival when I was a child and I’m coming again now.”
The flower festival has been held at Lalbagh for 102 years. The historic garden is called Lalbagh because it is famous for its collection of red roses that bloom year-round.
