A floral replica of the famous royal palace of Mysore is becoming a tourist attraction in the southern Indian city of Bangalore.

This artwork was created as part of the annual flower festival held every August to celebrate Independence Day.

Held at the historic Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, the 200th edition of the flower festival featured a replica of a royal palace with 300,000 roses. Measuring 14m long, 4m wide and 8m high, the rose palace left most visitors in awe.

“The flower exhibition is really amazing and there are so many beautiful flowers. The entrance to the palace is also impeccable. They have used a lot of roses to make it really colorful. It is so wonderful to see,” said Shweta, a visitor.

More than 200 varieties of flowers and vegetables were used in this sculpture program. For Sandeep, the festival truly brought him back to his childhood. Sandeep, a visitor shared, “It was wonderful to see the flowers in full bloom. It was truly breathtaking. I came to this special flower festival as a child and I come to this special flower festival now too.”

The Flower Festival has been held at Lalbagh for the past 102 years. The historic garden is called Lalbagh because it is famous for its collection of red roses that bloom throughout the year.
